Why does the coccyx hurt?

As a rule, trauma is the reason why the coccyx hurts. Very often this feeling accompanies a fracture.

Many patients who visited the doctor more than once before visiting the next specialist already know why they have a coccyx. The thing is that they can be bent to the side or to the front, so it gives them discomfort.

If the coccyx hurts, experts say about koktsigodinii. The condition is quite unpleasant, it gives a lot of discomfort to a person. As a rule, soreness manifests itself throughout the day when engaged in ordinary activities and is not associated with any stress. In this case, a person in a sitting position takes incorrect postures with support on one of the buttocks.

The coccyx is the final part of the spine. It includes three or five rudimentary vertebrae, fused together. It has the shape of a triangle with a vertex directed downward. In the area of articulation of the base of the coccyx and sacrum, there is a sacrococcygeal joint, characterized by mobility. Due to this, the final part of the spine may deviate, for example, during the delivery process, thus contributing to the increase in the birth canal.

The coccyx has a relatively small size. However, despite this, he takes part in the functioning of the ligaments and muscles of the pelvic floor, the organs of the genitourinary system, as well as the rectum. In the coccyx fibers pass from the spinal area of the hard shell of the brain, the fibers of the large buttock muscle are intertwined, which participates in the process of extension of the thigh. In addition, the last vertebral column takes part in the distribution of the structure of the pelvic ring gravitational load.

Injury provokes an asymmetric tension in the ligaments that are attached in the immediate vicinity of it. That's why the coccyx hurts. In this case, there is also a restriction of sacrum mobility with respect to iliac bones. As a result of blocking the lumbar vertebrae, a protrusion (bulging) of the disc is formed, and then a hernia is formed. This is also the reason why the coccyx and lower back ache. Often with these lesions, there is a violation of the functions of the uterus, rectum, ovaries and prostate.

What hurts the tailbone yet?

This condition can arise as a result of the formation of the cerebrospinal fluid cyst of the spinal nerves located in the sacrum. As a rule, the provoking factor is trauma. In this case, the pain can simply be given to the coccyx. For more accurate diagnosis, specialists use MRI.

Soreness can also indicate the development of a malignant tumor or metastasis in the pelvic organs. In this case, MRI is also used to clarify the diagnosis.

You can eliminate pain in the coccyx in several ways. Some patients turn to the manual therapist. It should be noted that this type of treatment is considered a somewhat "crude" method. This is due to the fact that, as a rule, the manual therapist effects through penetration into the rectum.

To eliminate not only the symptoms, but also the causes of cocciogeny, a more sparing, expedient and effective method is the combination of osteopathy and homeopathy. Specialist-osteopath, not venturing into the rectum, performs accurate external manipulations. The effect is directed to the area of the sacrococcygeal ligament. In combination with the use of homeopathic medications, such therapy gives an effective result.

When developing symptoms of coccidia, it is not recommended to ignore their manifestations. It should be noted that in many cases the neglected disease provokes the development of very unpleasant consequences.
