We plant the aquarium with Javan moss
Javanese moss (Vesicularia dubayana) is very common in Indonesia. He is very hardy, handsome and practical: small fishes can escape in his thickets, escaping the persecution of their larger relatives.
This remarkable plant belongs to the family Hypnaceae. Each fragment of moss consists of small twigs, with a pairwise bilateral arrangement of leaves. The fascination with Javanese moss went also because he is practically indifferent to the parameters of water.
But this does not apply to its purity, because in dirty water a beautiful plant quickly turns into a grubby loofah, an amorphous clump floating around the aquarium. Because of this, it is highly advisable not to cultivate it in water reservoirs containing fish, adoring digging in the ground, picking up mud.
The initial landing is that you need to identify those places where you would like to see lush and beautiful thickets. As we have already noted, it can be attached to the substrate by means of a regular capron thread or a simple line.
If the lighting is in order, and there are enough organic substances in the water (without their overabundance!), Even a small twig can very quickly turn into a lush bush.
If you want to completely plant the Javanese moss with an aquarium, just cut it off regularly, planting it around the entire perimeter of the tank. Surprisingly, even a small piece of it that has gone unnoticed during harvesting can grow a new twig.
We have already said that the plant is almost indifferent to the parameters of water, except for its purity. But best of all, it grows in a slightly alkaline medium at a pH of 5.8-8.0 and a temperature of 18-30 0 C. It is very important that the water in the aquarium does not bloom, otherwise you will quickly say goodbye to Javanese moss. With the level of lighting it is better not to overdo it, since moss loves soft, natural light most of all.
Unlike synthetic threads, which are also used in this capacity, it not only hides eggs dropped to the bottom, but also filters and purifies water, creating optimal conditions for their growth and development. In addition, the infusoria, which are an indispensable food for fry in the first days of their life, are well-lived.
Thus, Javanese moss (photo is presented to your attention) is an excellent aquarium plant!
