Velvet tick-reddish (photo). How to remove the red-tick from the balcony?

Across the globe is spread a tick red-cheek, called so for a bright red-orange color. It lives in the soil, as well as among plants.

Description

These unusual in their coloring are really bright representatives of the family of velvet ticks. Outwardly they are more like spiders, so they are often confused with them.

Live adults in the ground. Their rather large oval red body has a length of 1 to 2 mm and is covered with many small hairs. The limbs are seven-segmented paws, on which 2 claws are located. If there is any danger, the tick presses it under itself, then, if the danger has passed, continues its journey.

Velvet tick-reddish (an earthen mite, as it is also called) is a predator, sometimes feeding on plant foods. But the main food for adults is a variety of insects.

These arachnids come from India, where in the monsoon period they spread in a very large quantity, for which they received the name "rain mites" among the local population.

Main habitats

Today, the reddish mite lives in almost all corners of the globe. Especially a lot of them are observed in the tropics and subtropics. The arthropods themselves live in the soil, and the larvae parasitize on vertebrates. In countries with a temperate climate, only one generation of mites per year can develop (for example, in the tropics, there may be up to five generations). The development cycle is strictly seasonal. To lay eggs, the mite migrates to the soil to a depth of 10 cm.

Cycle of development

Velvet reddish mites during the breeding season lays in the soil for 30-50 eggs per day, which for all the time is about 400 to 900 pieces. After the embryonic molt, the larva is released from the egg. In a week she is able to feed herself. At the beginning, food for her is hemolymph of insects and arachnids.

Then, after passing through the next stage of dormancy (kokolkoobraznoy), the larva turns into deutonymphus. It is the same predator as an adult reddish tick. The largest number is observed in July-August.

After a certain time, another stage of rest comes, after which adults appear.

Larvae

Parasitize mostly larvae of tick-reddish mites on animals. Their hosts are most often rodents, hedgehogs, predators and some domestic animals such as sheep, horses, goats, etc. Sometimes they attack a person. Most of the larvae parasitize on the skin, rarely in the nasal cavity. Clinging to the host's body, they break the stratum corneum of the epidermis, plunge into the skin and for a few days eat interstitial fluid, less often - blood.

Attack the larvae of the tick-reddish moth directly from the surface of the soil or plants. There is such an attack around the clock (if there is sufficient humidity), stopping briefly only in the hot midday hours.

The diet can last from 2 to 7 days. The well-fed larvae leave the host, falling off the soil, where they continue their cycle of development. One animal can have them on itself up to 11,000 pieces, of which several dozen fall out every day. The larvae increase in size over the entire feeding period by more than 15 times.

Use in folk medicine

Hemolymph of reddish mite has a rather powerful fungicidal action. In connection with this, he finds wide application in folk medicine of the inhabitants of India. It is used to prevent paralysis, as well as as an aphrodisiac: it is believed that oil obtained from red blood cells, enhances sexual desire. In modern medicine, this issue is still at the stage of consideration. Scientists only look at these arthropods as a potential source of immunomodulators.

What danger does the tick-reddish tick represent?

The photos of these creatures are pretty nice, and looking at them, it's difficult even to guess what danger mites carry for those who are chosen for food. Among all their relatives, they are the only ones, whose larvae carry a rather dangerous disease - tsutsugamushi fever. This infection is especially widespread in Japan, Korea and China. When a person is infected, a fever rises, a rash appears, and the spleen increases. In advanced cases, serious complications can result, leading to death.

In Russia, small foci of infection exist only in some areas of the Far East. Most of the red tick mites are known to us as a causative agent of dermatitis. Attacking a person, he is able to cause such a disease as gooseberry fever. At the site of the tick bite, a small spot of red appears first, on which an abscess appears in a day, and in three days - a hardly noticeable vial. This place is very itchy, especially at night. After 5-8 days, the vesicle resolves. After it remains a dark pigmented spot that persists for two weeks. It continues to be severely itchy, which can lead to a repeated infection.

Such arthropods as the reddish mite are dangerous first of all for children playing often in the grass, where the probability of parasite attack is high enough. Most often this happens in rural areas, but recently more and more cases of attacks of ticks on a person are registered in large cities.

In urban conditions, favorite places for red-water are public gardens, gardens, any green areas. There are several hundred individuals on 1 dm 2 .

Methods of treatment and prevention of bites

Every year a fairly large number of people are faced with bites of reddish mites. Because of their small size, they are difficult to see on the body, besides, the larvae can hide in places where clothing is snug against the skin. It should be remembered that ticks are carriers of various infectious diseases, including lethal ones. Therefore, their bites can not be ignored.

The wound should be kept clean, washing in the morning and evening with water. In order to reduce the itching, you can use antiseptic drugs or lotions with decoction of celandine and chamomile. For its preparation, boil 10 grams of a mixture of dried herbs in a glass of boiling water, allow to infuse for two hours, and then filter. Infusion of herbs can be mixed with baby cream and lubricate the wound wound surface up to four times a day.

How to remove the reddish-colored from the balcony

It happens that mites settle near the human dwelling, in the front gardens and even on the balconies. They can be carried by birds or small rodents. In order not to expose yourself to danger, it is important in such cases to know how to remove red-ticks from the balcony. For their destruction, chemical preparations and special agents (dust, emulsion of DDT, hexachlorane) are used. For processing, 0.5 to 1 g of substance per square meter is required.
