Valery Esipov: biography

Valery Esipov is a Soviet and Russian football player. I played on the positions of midfielder and striker. He was part of Volgograd's "Rotor" in the golden years of this club.

Valery Esipov was born in 1971 in the town of Shchigry in the Kursk region. Here he began to make his first steps in big football. Initially, he played for the youth team "Smena", which was based in the regional capital.

In 17 years he moved to the main team of the region - "Vanguard". Here he played three seasons, from 1988 to 1991, while there was still a championship of the USSR. Totally spent 110 games for "Vanguard", in which scored 27 goals.

In a step from the title

Twice Yesipov and "Rotor" were a step away from winning the gold championship of Russia. The first time in 1993. The team started confidently, however after the 4th round the leadership was captured by Moscow "Spartak" and to the very end of the championship no one conceded to it. Volgograd won silver medals, behind the winner by 11 points. This is despite the fact that for the victory in that season were given 2 points, not 3, as now. To get the second place it was possible only on additional parameters because with Moscow "Dynamo" "Rotor" scored points equally.

Repeat the silver success Volgograd managed in 1997 year. The struggle for the championship was more stubborn. For the first time on the first line "Rotor" rose after the 6th round. In the national team
