Tinctures on alcohol are widely used both in official medicine and in folk medicine. They have advantages over other dosage forms of extracts from plants in that they preserve the healing properties much longer. This is due to the properties of alcohol. Tinctures on alcohol are obtained more qualitative, for example, in comparison with infusions, because alcohol ensures the production of the maximum amount of useful substances from the plant. Such tinctures have almost no side effects and take them in small doses, which is also very convenient.

Prepare tincture of alcohol at home is not difficult at all, but here it is necessary to adhere to certain rules. It all starts with the fact that you need to properly prepare medicinal raw materials and only after that you can approach the preparation of tinctures.

Home tinctures for alcohol

Typically, the ratio of raw materials and alcohol in a ratio of 1: 5 and 1:10. The process of infusion lasts up to 10 days and passes at room temperature. Once the tincture is ready, it must be protected, the process should take place at a temperature of about 8 degrees and can last up to 4 days. It remains to filter the obtained tincture, and it is ready for use.

If you observed the specified rules for making tinctures, it should be transparent and have a characteristic smell of the plant, which was used in its preparation. Preserve the tincture you need in a dark and cool place for several years.

The most common alcohol plant tinctures, which are prepared at home and used in folk medicine:

Tincture of calendula - for its preparation you need to take a spoonful of raw materials and pour 100 grams of alcohol. It is used in diseases of the upper respiratory tract, various inflammations of the skin. For a gargle of a throat use a solution from one spoon of tincture and 200 ml of water which is spent by a gargle of a throat.

Tincture of wormwood - is used as an anti-inflammatory and disinfectant.

Tincture of calendula and St. John's wort - is used in the treatment of various wounds resulting from ulcers and burns, as well as mouth rinsing with diseases of the oral cavity.

Lilac tincture is used to apply compresses or lotions during treatment of ulcers, purulent wounds and various bruises.

As already mentioned, alcohol tinctures are taken in small doses, on the order of 10-30 drops per day. Do not engage in self-medication and prescribe yourself a particular intake of tinctures, all this should be done only after consulting a specialist.
