Evgeny L. Schwartz was born in 1986 on the twenty-first of October. His father Lev Borisovich Schwartz was a baptized Jew, received medical education, later became a zemstvo doctor. Mother Maria Feodorovna Shelkova graduated from medical and midwifery courses. In the constant travels because of his father's service, the writer's childhood passed. At the age of eight, he moved with his family to Maykop, where he spent most of his life.

In Moscow in 1914 he entered the university as a lawyer, but two years later he realizes that this is not his vocation, and he devotes himself entirely to literary writing and theater. Since 1917 he began to play in theater studios, critics promised him an excellent acting future, but in the 1920s he left the stage. Until 1924 he worked as a secretary in the literary affairs of KI Chukovsky, then engaged in journalistic activities.

"Two brothers": a summary

On a large territory of forest lands lived forester, guarding and protecting trees. He walked cheerfully through the forest, talked with every bush, tree, knew everyone by name. However, he did not want to return home because of the quarrel between his sons. Their name was Elder and Younger. They treated each other as strangers and constantly quarreled two brothers. Schwartz makes them the main characters of his fairy tale.

And on the eve of the New Year the father of sons called and told them that he would not be able to arrange a Christmas tree for them this year, because it is necessary to go to decorate the city, and there is no trust in his father alone. But the eldest son promised that everything will be all right, and they will not let the father down. The parents believed their son and left, promising to return at eight o'clock on the evening of December 31.

The first two days all was calm and friendly with the brothers. On the third day the Elder went about his business: he really wanted to read, this was his passion, especially he liked the book "The Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor". And the youngest boy was very bored alone, so he began to ask his brother to play with him. But the Elder just reached the most interesting moment, he wanted to know what would all end. He began to drive away his brother, asking to be left alone. However, the boy did not stop, and then Elder kicked the baby out of the house in the cold and locked the door. He, of course, was going to run his brother back as soon as he finished, but he completely forgot about the time.

Recovering himself, he ran to the street with all his might, but his younger brother was nowhere to be found, he seemed to have disappeared. Then parents came. Learning the truth, the father sent his son to look for his brother, saying not to return without Younger.

Soon the Elder was in the woods, where he met the old man, Great-grandfather Frost. He said that the boy is with him, and now, to return his brother, our hero must work for the old man: turn in front of the ice stove birds, forest small animals, so that they become icy and transparent.

A few weeks later the boy realized that Frost was not going to let them go with his brother, and began to think about how to get out. He began to burn a fire, in which he began to melt the frozen forest animals.

Happy return

Saved animals decided to help the boy and stole the sleeping old man keys. The elder opened the door, behind which he found a dead brother with tears in his eyes. Grabbing him, he rushed out of the forest. But behind them the great-grandfather Frost chased, and the boy first began to feel the cold, but continued to run. In the coniferous forest, he slipped, dropped his brother, and he crashed into small pieces. The older one began to cry, and afterwards, exhausted, fell asleep.

The grateful forest dwellers came to the aid of the boy. All night they collected and folded pieces and until the morning warmed the brother with his warmth. Waking up with the first rays of the sun, Elder saw the brother's blinking eyes. His joy and happiness had no end. Jumping up, the boys ran to the parents' house. Since then, the guys lived amicably and did not quarrel. Only occasionally the elder brother asked not to interfere with him, but immediately added that it was not for long. So ends his tale by Eugene Schwartz.
