Park named after the 500th anniversary of Cheboksary

In 1969, when the capital celebrated its 500th anniversary from the day of its appearance on the pages of history, a new park was laid on the Volga shore, near the Chernyshevsky ravine. However, its opening dragged on for almost a decade.

A bit of history

Originally it was planned to allocate a territory of two hundred hectares for the park of the 500th anniversary (Cheboksary) in order to accommodate a film theater, a pavilion for exhibitions, a separate reading room, a green theater, a stage, a dance zone, several sports and playgrounds, a summer restaurant, a cafe And attractions. Only five years after the start of the park's inauguration, in 1974, the city's executive committee approved the final plan for the site. According to this project, the park was cut by half territorially, and according to the plan it began to possess an area of only ninety hectares. The plan, conceived according to the approved project, took on real forms in the next four years. The long-awaited opening of the park marked the beginning of 1978. Then (only in 1981) "Chuvashgrazhdanproject" proposed a well-developed project for the construction of this landmark. Park 500 anniversary (Cheboksary) was supposed to be divided into thematic zones: entrance, cultural and exhibition, a zone for children, sports and recreation, for attractions, as well as for the corner of ethnography.

Park named after the 500th anniversary of Cheboksary as a branch of Lakrei Forest

All this time the park of the 500th anniversary (Cheboksary) belonged to another, large and oldest Cheboksary park of the Lakrei Forest. His history of appearance is no less interesting. And since for 19 years the park of the 500th anniversary was under Lakarevsky start, the mention of it will be quite appropriate.

In 1957, the park "Lakreevsky Forest" was created on the basis of a real natural oak grove, but it was called otherwise - the City Park named after Sorocaia in October. However very soon it began to be called as it used to be, simply - Lakreevsky forest. The fact is that earlier (in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries), in place of the modern forest, a vast oak grove was stretching far away. All these possessions belonged to one landowner - Fedor Andreevich Lakreev-Panov. That's where the name came from. In the future, from this rich oak-tree remained only a small array, on the basis of which the park of the same name appeared.

Park 500 anniversary (Cheboksary) was under the "Lakarevsky" beginning until 1987, after which he switched to independent maintenance.

Alley of Generations

In the park in honor of the 80th anniversary of the authorities of Cheboksary in 2004 formed the Alley of Generations. She was planted with twenty trees. This place is recognized as significant in Cheboksary. Planting these trees in 2004 introduced the tradition of transmitting information about each tree from one generation to the next, since each tree is a name (in honor of those who were planting).

"Road to Moscow"

In 2005, the wooden sculpture "The Road to Moscow" was placed in the park (moved from another place). This monument is dedicated to the entry of Chuvash and mountain Mari people in good faith into Russia in 1551.

The Rose of the World (2008)

In the park in 2008, an unusual architectural composition with meaning was established. This is the "Rose of the World". It is devoted to the unity of peoples and cultures. This is a huge monument, at the bottom of which, at the base, is an octahedron with carved out sayings about peace, love, good and friendship. In the center of the monument are depicted female figures, they bring to the sky a cup in the form of a beautiful flower, the petals of which embody multiple denominations, there are more than a dozen in Chuvashia, according to official data.

Improvement of the park

In the park now operate 13 attractions. It should be noted that the entertainment program was designed well enough for its visitors and visitors to the park of the 500th anniversary (Cheboksary). Paintball, shooting at a shooting gallery, renting a coach or a horse-drawn sled, roller-skating and skating (seasonally), karting, motorcycles and others. There is also a separate field for football games and sports team training. Cheboksary and the guests of the capital like to come to the park of 500 anniversary (Cheboksary). Pavilions and benches for gatherings, and pavilions for trade - all ennobled and made for the convenience and comfort of people.

Future plans

In the coming years, this place wants to be modified: expanded and supplemented. It is supposed that on the basis of this green zone there will be an ethnocomplex called "Amazonia". According to one of the projects, this complex includes an aquapark, an oceanarium, an entertainment center "Smesharik-Land", a sports complex and a yacht club. Plans for the future are rather grandiose, as they are difficult to implement due to a number of reasons. It should be noted once again that the project plan is still under consideration and under development. Whatever the future fate of the park, I would like it to perform not only (or even not so much) entertainment functions, but also not lose its natural connection with nature.
