The paradise of the Hamilton. Dream Lake

Residents of Texas rightfully consider the picturesque lake located in the reserve Hamilton Pool Preserve, one of the most fabulous species on earth, and thousands of tourists cross the long distance to personally enjoy the beautiful scenes of a unique natural phenomenon.

Charming landscape

A half open beautiful water body with a 15-meter waterfall was formed thousands of years ago after the collapse of the limestone arch of a small river that pierced its way underground. The amazing lake consists of two parts: it lies under the open sky and is closed by part of the preserved stone dome. The locals and visitors are struck by the natural, natural beauty of the Hamilton basin. A small lake that emerges to the surface from under the grotto always has an unusual bright green color, and a never-drying waterfall fills it with powerful streams.

Natural splendor of the lake

Incredible beauty wild orchids with a charming aroma and thickets of ferns surround the fabulous pond Hamilton. The Virgin View of the Cave

Lake Hamilton Pool is surrounded by towering stone slabs, close to it. This is a favorite place for swallows, who are nesting their nests in the limestone grotto. The transverse rings of the walls of the ancient cave store the memory of the level of water that once flowed, the ceiling of the cave is decorated with huge stalactites. The inner dome and walls are covered with evergreen moss, giving a virgin appearance, untouched by civilization. From the side of the dungeon opens a truly fabulous view of the sun-drenched beach.

History of the National Park

In the XIX century, a picturesque piece of land bought by an American, whose brother was elected governor of Texas. And the name of the magical reservoir was given in honor of the Hamilton family. The lake, however, gained its fame with immigrants from Germany, who bought territory from the brothers and tried to earn on the arrangement of resort rest.

Only 30 years ago, the state authorities thought about preserving the national heritage, because because of the huge number of people visiting picturesque places, the park's ecological system began to suffer. The incredibly popular Hamilton Lake was taken under the protection of the local administration, and now there is a nature reserve in the territory, the entrance to which costs only ten dollars.

Rules for visiting the reserve

Now there are strict rules, violations of which are severely punished by the authorities. It is forbidden to bring glass bottles to the lake territory, build fire, put up tents and even ride mountain bikes. Local youth who chose to be their favorite holiday destination liked to jump into the lake directly from the top of the waterfall, but now this is also not allowed. Do not use raw water from the Hamilton Basin: the lake contains an increased number of microorganisms, since swallows nest nests right under the arch of the underground grotto. A special service takes samples every day for health-threatening bacteria.

Due to floods as a result of rains, the entrance to the local landmark can be closed. Therefore it is recommended to all tourists to first determine whether the lake is open for visits and bathing. The park is equipped with numerous rest rooms that work until 18 o'clock, where you can relax after a walk to the lake and observe the unique beauty created by Mother Nature.
