The negative consequences of mononucleosis

Infectious mononucleosis is a type of disease caused by a certain type of herpes virus - Epstein-Barr. As a rule, the consequences of mononucleosis are negative, if you do not start treating it in time.
The main source of infection is considered to be direct contact with an infected person. For example, with saliva, the virus enters a healthy body, after which the motorcycle angina develops. Of course, high immunity is a protective function, since not every person gets sick with the Epstein-Barra virus. It is known that a certain amount of the herpes virus is available to every person.
Symptoms and consequences of infectious mononucleosis often resemble other diseases, so it is difficult to identify the disease itself and determine its stage. At the initial stage, the general weakness of the body appears, the appetite is disturbed. Typically, this period lasts 1-3 days, after which there are more serious symptoms that lead to the fact that the body is harder to fight the virus.

In the next stage, inflammatory processes in the throat, febrile chills, lymph nodes located in the neck may appear. To exclude the unpleasant consequences of mononucleosis, you should consult a specialist.
Also, the common signs of infectious mononucleosis include the appearance of a white coating on the tonsils, an increase in the spleen, a rash on the human skin. Very often rashes have a similarity to the symptoms of measles.
Of course, the most accurate diagnosis can be made after the study of blood composition. The main indicator of the presence in the blood of the Epstein-Barr virus is an increase in the number of white blood cells or leukocytes. The content of atypical leukocytes is a clear indicator of the development of infectious mononucleosis. But these bodies appear already at the stage of full spread of the infection, therefore in the first weeks after infection they can not be detected or rather difficult.
To exclude the consequences of mononucleosis, it is necessary to start treatment in time. First of all, it should be aimed at eliminating the symptoms of the disease. But, for example, antiviral drugs are often prescribed, which significantly prolong the course of mononucleosis, and also affect the general state of the human body. Antibiotics can have an allergic reaction, which is taken for characteristic rashes in infectious mononucleosis.
Of course, the consequences of mononucleosis in children impose a negative imprint on the further development of the body. The most "harmless" consequences of mononucleosis are the inflammatory process of the liver and the enlargement of the spleen. In this case, no special treatment and a long period of rehabilitation of the patient is required. More serious include hemolytic anemia (or destruction of leukocytes), pericarditis (or inflammation of the cardiac sac), myocarditis (or inflammation of the heart muscle), encephalitis (or inflammation of the brain).
To the features of the disease in young children should be attributed to the rarity of cases and pronounced symptoms already in the first days after infection. Acute tonsillitis begins with a fairly rapid increase in lymph nodes. But after a while, the tonsils drop sharply to their original shape. A characteristic cough and runny nose may appear. It is advisable not to allow the Epstein-Barr virus to enter the body of a child or an adult. To do this, it is necessary to regularly carry out anti-epidemic procedures in possible places of infection (kindergartens, polyclinics, other public institutions). In the presence of the disease, as a rule, the patient is isolated from society until full recovery.
