The keyboard on the computer does not work: what to do?

First of all, you should check the wire itself, by means of which the device is connected to the system unit. This is especially true in cases where there are children in the house - little pranksters, studying the world around them, often pull the cord out of the nest. The correct connector is usually located at the rear of the case. In addition, the cable itself may be damaged. To make sure there are no kinks or to detect them, simply remove the plug from the socket and then insert it again. In the case of a USB keyboard, the problem may be that the device is locked in the BIOS. In this situation, you need to perform a few simple steps. After that, reboot the system. Often, it helps a much simpler option - remove the plug and connect it to another port.

One of the reasons why the keyboard does not work on the computer is the lack of appropriate drivers in the system. Sometimes already installed can be removed as a result of Windows glitches. To update the driver manually, you should visit the official website of the keyboard manufacturer, find there the corresponding section (Drivers), specify the device model you are interested in and download the archive. In some cases, it can have its own installation program. Then, to install, simply use the "Run File" function. If such an automatic program is not available, go to "Device Manager", select the "Update drivers" option, and then use the manual search to register the path to the folder into which the files were extracted from the archive. To complete the installation, you must restart the computer.

Another option of why the keyboard does not work on the computer is the attack of the virus software. In this case, you need to install a good antivirus, thoroughly scan all disks and delete infected files.

If the keyboard is wireless, the cause of the malfunction may also be hidden in the low battery level. It is also likely that the latter was simply damaged.

Separately, we should mention the possible reasons why the keyboard does not work on a netbook or laptop. The most common problems occur when a liquid (water or tea) has been spilled onto the device. However, even if such incidents did not occur, there is a possibility that it is moisture that is to blame for the unwillingness of the keyboard buttons.
