Sailing, he hinted to everyone in the fourth part, but it was never taken off. But he left a legacy. "The Legacy of Bourne" - that's exactly what is called the spin-off of the legendary franchise about another agent who emerged from the laboratories of the US Department of Defense. Well, evolution is evolution.

Heir of Bourne

It turns out that while the CIA was working on the "Treadstone" project, preparing the hired assassins, the Defense Ministry went further and launched the "Outcome" program. Only agents from there came out stronger, because they ate special pills for the development of muscles and mental activity. I lost the project only because when the subjects stopped taking the drug their life functions stopped.

Frightened of the repetition of the CIA's fate, a team is being recruited with the goal of completely eliminating "Outcome". At this time, one of their agents - Aaron Cross, who has been living in the mountains for a long time, is witnessing a murder of his own kind. Realizing that his next turn, he staged his own death, and after a while it turns out in America.

And here the cleaning is in full swing. In the laboratory, one of the scientists kills his colleagues, after which he bids farewell to his life. True, the survivor remains Dr. Marta Schering, which Aaron soon safely saves from the killers. And apparently, not for nothing, she has good news for him. The fact is that muscle stimulants (green pills) have long been unnecessary, they were canceled a year ago. He can now develop them himself. It remains to cancel stimulants for the brain (blue pills). Only you can do it in a special laboratory that is located in the Philippines. So the couple went there.

Why Aaron Cross?

Yes, if only because the picture was occupied by the new director - Tony Gilroy. Paul Greengrass, who shot the last two parts, with his head went into work on another film, which, incidentally, did not even return the money spent on it. As a result, Universal suffered heavy losses. Naturally, this was forgiven him, referring to previous achievements, and therefore they suggested continuing the adventures of Born. But apparently, he refused.

But Tony Gilroy agreed. Especially since he worked on the script for the three previous films. Therefore, for the opportunity to put the "Evolution", he seized it with both hands. But there were little difficulties, Matt Damon left with Greengrass, and therefore, the role of the superspy will have to look for a new man. It was necessary to make a difficult choice: either shoot the sequel with another actor, or tell the story of the new agent. Of course, you can threaten to restart the franchise, but it would be too risky.

As a result, it was decided to remove the spin-off of the original. For the role of the main experimental ("Outcome") Jeremy Renner was chosen, and soon the "Evolution of Born" appeared at the box office. Actors, at least some of those that were seen in previous parts, also got roles in the new picture.

Film crew

Separately it is necessary to say about the crew. Robert Elswitt became the operator of the picture. By that time, he already had an Oscar statuette, received in 2008 for the drama "Oil." By the way, he is a supporter of black and white films and prefers traditional methods of shooting, i.e. Without digital cameras. One of the editors was John Gilroy, the brother of the director.

And the music that sounded in the picture belongs to the composer James Newton Howard. His work can be heard in more than a hundred films. True, in "Evolution" there is the sound of another musician, known as Moby. Its soundtrack is an integral part of all four parts.

Superhero, good chemist and villain

The role of Aaron Cross was claimed by many, but the most worthy of all was Jeremy Renner. He also approached by age, because the film already had an agent over thirty. In addition, he already managed to star in the movie "Thor", and soon had to appear in the "Avengers". Why is his candidature bad?

The chemist, who on the film several times examined Cross, but did not recognize his name, than the very upset agent, played Rachel Weiss.

At one time, he managed to chase after Born and even at the end of the "Ultimatum" shot him. Only in this part he is not up to it, because all the participants in the operation are being prosecuted. True, it is not clear what ended it.

David Strathearn went a long way on the stage, in the movies and on television. In addition to this film and the third part of the franchise, he was Arthur Spiderwick in the movie "Spiderwick Chronicles", played in the episodes of the series "Doctor House" and united people with superpowers in the film "People of Alpha."

In the US, the film was shown at the end of July 2012, but in Russia it was "rolled out" exactly one month later. Despite the fact that the fees in the first days of the show were somewhat higher than the expected result, around the world the picture collected about $ 300 million. This amount is half that of the Bourne Ultimatum. But it did not confuse the creators, and now the next picture on the universe of Jason Bourne is being prepared for release. It's unclear whether actors from the film "Evolution of Bourne" will get there, but he will definitely be without Aaron Cross.

Although film critics were too cautious about this picture, because of which its rating rose slightly above the middle of the 100-point scale, in general the film turned out to be very spectacular. Run, special effects, shootings, fighting scenes - there are all the elements corresponding to this genre. Of course, the share of success still belongs to the finished platform, but the cast and the new director also tried. And in general, the very idea to create a continuation with a new actor is hard to find fault.
