The film "Crocodile Dundee": the actor of one role

There are actors who have become hostages of a single film and a single role. Paul Hogan is one of those. And although the filmography of the artist has more than a dozen paintings, most of us he is familiar with the trilogy "Crocodile Dundee". The actor plays the role of an ingenuous and charismatic hunter for alligators, in which it is difficult not to fall in love.

Plot

The idea to make a film about survival in the wild is due to Paul Hogan. In his historic homeland at that time was widely covered the story of a provincial guy who spent several long weeks in the desert and managed to survive, no matter what.

The film takes place in the Australian jungle, which is difficult to pass, where a young journalist comes to make an exciting report. Her guide in this green and dangerous world is the local tracker Mick Dundee. Absolutely unlike each other, the protagonists are forced to spend a few days among wild nature, now and then getting into dangerous and ridiculous situations.

Soon enough the reporter girl realizes that she has fallen hopelessly in love with her guide and invites him to visit New York, her native stone jungle. What happened next is easy to guess. Met in extreme conditions, the protagonists end up together.

Cast

Scant in Hollywood standards, the budget of the film did not give the opportunity to invite world-famous stars. The main roles were played by actors making their debut in this field. Hogan's partner in this work was Linda Kozlowski, a young American actress, who had only Broadway performances behind her.

Dundee's friends in the film were the famous Australian actor John Meyllon, as well as the native David Gulpil. The bridegroom of the main character was played by Mark Bloom, who had previously lightened up in the film "Susan's vain search".

How did the shooting go?

The Australian part of the film was shot about 7 weeks in the Northern Territory. The nature for the picture was the national park "Kakadu", located 170 km from Darwin. The actors of the movie "Crocodile Dundee", like the whole crew, lived in one of the abandoned miners' settlements, in terrible conditions without any benefits of civilization.

Animals that appear in the film have become a headache for everyone. In one scene in the movie "Crocodile Dundee" the actor was supposed to fill up the buffalo with his bare hands. The scene in a few minutes of screen time was filmed all day, as the stubborn animal did not want to lie down. Only by pumping it with soothing, the operator was able to make a successful double. Of course, these crocodiles did not shoot in scenes with people, they were replaced with stuffed animals.

The second part of the film was completed in New York. According to the group, it was much more pleasant to work in America.

Some interesting facts

The picture was released at the end of September 1986 and in a matter of days it was an unprecedented success. Spent on shooting 8 million dollars quickly paid off. In the world box office, the film earned 328 million, becoming the second box office in 1986 and giving way to the top-only film masterpiece "Top Gan" with Tom Cruise in the title role.

For the work on the project "Crocodile Dundee" actor Paul Hogan was awarded the "Golden Globe" and nominated for an Oscar.

For the artist, the shooting in this legendary film has become fatal. Four years after the screening of the film "Crocodile Dundee", the actor divorced his first wife and connected his life with the performer of the main female role - Linda Kozlowski. They lived together for 23 years, after which they decided to disperse.
