Everyone who held a magazine or newspaper in their hands faced this genre. And many of them also managed to create works of this kind on their own. What is an essay? This is a philosophical sketch, a scientific, journalistic or critical article, a note, an essay, usually written in prose. A distinctive feature of this genre is the freely developing interpretation of the phenomenon or the study of the problem. The author's personal point of view in the essay is an obligatory characterization of the text. In this case, such an individual and subjective opinion is usually expressed in an artistic, original way. Psychological or The philosophical reasoning contained in the essay is in no way a claim to the truth in the last instance or to scientific authority. This is a personal position. Subjectivity and the author's point of view are necessarily present in the works of this genre.

Of course, essays, examples of which we read daily in magazines (for example, in the column "Editor's column"), which were created by both great philosophers and poets, combine along with ideas poetic images, paradoxical formulations, witty aphorisms. Often they are present and elements of the narrative narrative or lyrical and analytical digressions

The essay is an open literary form. The author in it undertakes a kind of attempt to penetrate into the essence of the issues that he touches, but does not represent all the arguments as it happens in the scientific style, but makes a subjective choice. Often essays, ready and published, seem incomplete, unsaid. However, it is this free composition that confirms the literary mastery of the author.

Essays - this is a genre, especially strongly based on associations and quotes. It is based on the principle of free connections, there should not be a chronological or thematic order, a hierarchy of arguments. The exception is the essay as a genre chosen for the written part of some exams. Fragmentation, free association, generic and specific syncretism of the essay - this is its specificity. This text combines the features of many genres. One of the essential characteristics of the essay is intertextuality. The author can use various quotations, aphorisms, reminiscences from other works of literature and culture. He can conduct historical and philosophical allusions. In the course of thought, the author can make free deviations, which are completely unrelated to the main question.

To write a good essay, draw up a plan that will be the axis of the composition of your text, use a series of keywords, associations, quotes. Try to find parallels between phenomena, other people's aphorisms, thoughts. Be sure to express your own thoughts. Quotes can be denied, you can argue with them, but do not forget to specify the primary sources.

The original title, which can be a metaphor, rhetorical question, proverb, will decorate the essay. Before acquainting the reader with the topic of your reasoning, you can introduce it into the course of the case with the help of an epigraph. The essay does not need an explicit ending or conclusion, it does not need "morality", as it is customary in maxims or fables. However, to sum up your thoughts and once again emphasize your point of view on the issue under consideration.
