The drug "Gistan" is considered by many consumers to be an effective external means for eliminating allergic skin rashes. The drug is used for insect bites. Ointment "Gistan" has a pleasant smell. The drug is rapidly absorbed, forming a thin film on the skin that transmits oxygen, but protects against allergens and moisture.

Medication "Gystan" instruction refers to the group of glucocorticosteroids for topical application. The active component is mometasone furoate. The active substance, being a synthetic glucocorticosteroid, has an antiexudative, antipruritic and anti-inflammatory effect. Mometasone furoate induces (enhances) the isolation of proteins that suppress A2 phospholipase and lipocortins, which in turn control the biosynthesis of inflammatory mediators (leukotrienes and prostaglandins).

The drug "Gystan" prevents the accumulation of neutroviles, which reduces the production of cytokines and inflammatory exudates, delays the migration of macrophages. The drug, by lowering the formation of the chemotaxis substance, reduces inflammation, stops the development of the primary allergic reaction.

The drug is prescribed for dermatoses, accompanied by itching and inflammation of the skin (including psoriasis, seborrhoea and atopic dermatitis), the treatment of which requires the use of glucocorticosteroids.

Medicinal product "Gystan". Instructions. Contraindications.

No medication is prescribed for hypersensitivity to glucocorticosteroids, components of the drug, with perioral dermatitis, tuberculosis, rosacea, fungal, viral or bacterial infections of the skin, syphilis. The drug "Gystan" does not recommend the use of the instructions for post-vaccination reactions, patients up to two years. No medication is prescribed for lactation. The drug "Gistan" during pregnancy is also not recommended (with prolonged use, applying to large areas of damage).

The drug is applied externally, a thin layer on the problem areas once a day. Duration of the drug from seven to twenty-eight days. More precise terms of use are determined in accordance with the manifested therapeutic effectiveness, tolerability, occurrence and severity of side effects.

With daily use of the drug "Gistan" for children older than two years with atopic dermatitis, the result of treatment is noted in three weeks.

After applying the ointment, local reactions are likely to develop. In particular, they include chalk, striae, secondary infection, skin maceration, contact allergic dermatitis , perioral dermatitis, hypopigmentation, hypertrichosis, skin atrophy, acne, folliculitis, paresthesia, itching, burning. With the use of occlusive dressings, the frequency and severity of adverse events increases.

Overdose is manifested by oppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system (secondary adrenal insufficiency, including). Treatment is carried out according to the symptoms. If necessary, the correction of electrolyte imbalance, the elimination of the drug (with prolonged use - the gradual cessation of the use of the "Gystan" ointment) is prescribed.

In the absence of results from treatment for two weeks, it is necessary to clarify the diagnosis.

There is a possibility of developing systemic exposure to prolonged application or application on large areas of the skin, especially when using occlusive dressings.

Local irritation in the application area can be caused by propylene glycol, which is part of the "Gystan" ointment.
