The drug 'Diltiazem'. Instructions for use

The drug "Diltiazem" instructions for use refers to calcium channel blockers from the group dihydropyridones. Synonyms of the medicine are such means as "Cordialzem", "Anginil", "Aldizem", "Cardil" and others.

The "Diltiazem" medication is recommended for angina pectoris, for coronary angiography or coronary artery bypass grafting to prevent coronarospasm. Indications include arterial hypertension after an infarction (mainly with retard forms, when beta-blockers are contraindicated), in patients with diabetic nephropathy. Intravenously the drug is used for flutter and fibrillation of the ventricles, paroximal supraventricular tachycardia. Injections are used (in combination with the drug "Digoxin") to eliminate paroxysm of arrhythmia (ciliary). The drug "Diltiazem" instructions for use recommends after kidney transplantation for the prevention of graft failure, as well as to reduce the nephrotoxicity of A-cyclosporine in immunosuppressive treatment.

The drug has a negative chronotropic effect (reduces the frequency of cardiac contractions), can slow atrioventricular conduction and reduce the excitability of the atrial ventricular node. The drug "Diltiazem" lowers the vascular tone and the general resistance (peripheral) in hypertensive disease. The anti-ischemic (antianginal) effect is based on the reduction of preload on the myocardium, the expansion of the lumen of the blood vessels of the heart, and also the improvement in the flow of oxygen into the heart. The drug also has antiarrhythmic effect.

The dosage of the drug "Diltiazem" recommends the use of the instruction for each patient individually. A day can be prescribed thirty milligrams three or four times. Tablets of prolonged (prolonged) action recommend one piece once or twice a day.

The drug "Diltiazem" instruction does not allow for the reception of weakness sinus node, pronounced bradycardia, atrioventricular blockade of 2-3 degrees, cardiogenic shock, arterial hypotension, acute and chronic heart failure in the syndrome. Contraindications include pronounced renal or hepatic dysfunction, child age, individual intolerance, lactation and pregnancy.

When taking medication, hypotension (transitory), conduction disorder of the first degree, bradycardia, reduction of the minute cardiac volume, fainting, palpitations can be noted. Among the side effects may also be a syndrome of fatigue, dizziness, weakness, headache. Taking the drug "Diltiazem" can provoke redness of the skin, sweating, hyperplasia of the mucous gums, dyspepsia, potency, peripheral edema. In some cases, the occurrence of multiform exudative erythema, allergic reactions, hyperglycemia is likely.

When an overdose is observed, heart failure, intracardiac blockade, hypotension, bradycardia. The patient should be washed stomach. Subsequently, plasmapheresis and hemoperfusion with activated carbon are prescribed.

When taking "Diltiazem" tablets of prolonged action, intravenous administration of beta-blockers is not recommended.

Caution is recommended when using the drug to normalize the heart rhythm or simultaneously with drugs that reduce conduction and contractility of the myocardium, general vascular resistance (peripheral), as well as in patients with disorders in hemodynamics.

With prolonged intravenous administration, monitoring of blood pressure and ECG is necessary.

The drug is available in the form of tablets, capsules. The medicine "Diltiazem" (ointment) is not produced.

Before taking the drug is recommended to read the instructions.
