The history of one's own country must be known well, so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Military communism and NEP (comparison): differences and similarities in the economic sphere

The policy of "war communism" was carried out by the Soviet government from 1918 to 1921. The main essence of the behavior of the authorities in those years was a complete infringement of the rights of the peasantry, as well as of the inhabitants of most cities. Since 1922, due to the fact that the economic situation in the country has become critical, the government is changing its approach to working with the population, introducing a new economic policy (NEP). Each phenomenon of the period of "War Communism" corresponds to the opposite in the years of the NEP. It is very easy to make a comparison. NEP and military communism table clearly shows how absolutely opposite in nature the phenomenon.

Military Communism and the NEP: Comparing Politics in Public Administration and Human Rights

In the first year after coming to power, when the country was going through the consequences of the First World War and the revolution, the Bolsheviks were confident of the possibility of building communism by violent methods. Probably, for many things everything will become clear if we make a comparison. NEP and military communism, the table above shows how two opposing phenomena. We see greater efficiency of the market and competitive method of farming. Public administration was built on a military basis, because all these years (until 1921), the Civil War was on in the country . In many localities, power changed several times a year. The principle of militarization of all spheres of social, political and economic life was the basis of the policy of the CPSU (b) in those years. The population, especially the rural population, was not able to withstand such pressure, so in 1920-1921. A lot of popular revolts broke out in all regions of the country.

One of the most important reasons for the curtailment of "war communism" and the introduction of the NEP was the threat of overthrowing the totalitarian communist regime. Making political comparison of the NEP and military communism, it is worth noting that the government did not want NEP. The Communists had to make concessions for the sake of:

  • The removal of tensions in society;
  • Guaranteeing one's own security and preserving the power of the party;
  • Opportunities to lead the country out of international isolation;
  • Improve the economic situation in the state.

Advantages of NEP

NEP is a salvation for many people. What has changed in comparison with the years of terror? People just felt the possibility of ordinary life:

  • There was no threat of attack by military detachments that were taking wheat;
  • The turnover between the village and the city resumed;
  • The revival of private initiative.

Comparison of the consequences of two policies

Once again, we note that the NEP was not the program goal of the CPSU (b). A smooth transition to the elements of communism was more successful, which was shown by comparison. NEP and military communism table the consequences of the policy of the Bolsheviks clearly shows how the events that led to completely different results.

Military Communism

NEP

  • Popular uprisings;
  • The strengthening of anti-Party forces;
  • Deep economic crisis
  • No threat to the power of the Bolsheviks;
  • Economic stability in the country

We hope that even an ignorant person can see all the advantages of a market-based method of conducting economic policy. By forceful methods, the country's development is impossible.
