Main muscles: upper posterior cog muscle

The upper posterior jagged muscle is located on the back of a person and belongs to the number of superficial muscles. It is paired, fastened directly to the rib and, in comparison with other superficial, lies deep.

general information

This muscle is located under a diamond-shaped muscle. It belongs to the third layer covering the human back muscles. By structure, this organ is flat. The ligament ligament - its lower part - the place where the jagged muscle is attached. The bundles of the latter are directed downward along the oblique, pass to the outer surface of 2-5 ribs, to which they are attached, lateral to their corners.

The muscle, which begins with a ligamentous ligament, depending on the fitness of the organism may have a large number of bundles, and may be completely absent.

When cutting it, the upper part of the ribs making up the rib cage rises, which allows the person to breathe.

Nearest neighbor

Upper posterior muscular muscle, located in close proximity to the inferior muscle of the same name. And she is next to the broadest dorsal muscle, immediately in front of her. The beginning of the muscle takes also from a tendon plate, but it is dilated on 1 and 2 lumbar, and also on 11 and 12 thoracic vertebra.

This muscle is also oblique, it is directed upwards and laterally. The muscle is involved in the inspiration-expiration act, as it lowers the ribs of the chest in its lower half.

Operation

Both described muscles are classified as basic respiratory, since their contractions provide the possibility of inspiration.

To the upper back spinal muscles of the back function correctly, the flow of blood to it is carried out by an artery located between the ribs. Another source of essential nutrients is the deep neck artery. Intercostal nerves provide innervation of the organ.

Why does the muscle ache?

The upper posterior muscular muscle, as a rule, disturbs with osteochondrosis, affecting the intervertebral disks in the upper part of the thorax. The first symptom of the disease is a dull strong pain in the depth, near the scapula.

To diagnose the problem, palpation is performed by slightly displacing the scapula and then placing the brush in the armpit on the opposite side of the body. In this case, the patient's torso should be slightly tilted forward, allowing hands to hang freely.

Myofascial syndrome

MFBS is diagnosed by blunt, constant, severe soreness, which is local and segmental in nature. In this case, there are so-called trigger points where pain is concentrated. When palpation along the muscles, you can find nodules. Neoplasms are strictly along the fibers of the muscle and grow 2-5 mm in diameter.

Palpation is accompanied by a strong local, reflected pain. Each trigger point has its own pain zone and paresthesia. When contact with the site there is a "jump syndrome", when the reflex patient tends to move away from the source of sensations. This attribute is attributed to the typical manifestations of the MFBS.

In addition to active trigger points, there are latent ones. The first are characterized by spontaneous abrupt sensations, accompanying the load of the muscle, palpation. Second, the spontaneity of the pain syndrome is not typical.

In the event that the described points are present in a latent form, the upper posterior toothed muscle weakens, the functions of the organ are suppressed, and fatigue increases. If the organ has 2-3 points, between which there is a nerve or a bundle of such, the probability of the development of neurovascular compression is great.

MFBS is formed by stretching the muscle, sharp movements. The probability of MFBS is great, if the patient has spent a long time in an uncomfortable antiphosphological posture, has been exposed to abnormally low or high temperature. The syndrome is observed with different length of legs, anomalies in the development of the pelvic ring, foot. In some cases, the reasons are:

  • mental disorders;
  • Metabolic disorders;
  • Malnutrition.

Activation of trigger points occurs when:

  • Pneumonia;
  • Emphysema;
  • Asthma.

Reflex pain associated with the MFBS, in the lower ribs, in the sternum from below. Provoke the syndrome can work, forcing a person to stand for a long time, raising his hands up.

Training

The upper posterior muscular muscle is pumped in the course of complex back muscles training. The most useful exercise is called "pullover". Besides him, they practice:

  • Becoming a craving;
  • Traction in slope;
  • Thrust horizontally;
  • Shrugs (using dumbbells, barbells);
  • Slopes, weighted by a barbell;
  • Thrust of the T-neck.

It is recommended that:

  1. Regularly engage with the frequency of 2-3 times a week. The first results will be visible only after 3 weeks.
  2. Warm up before starting classes. In case of painful sensations, it is necessary to reduce the load or even completely stop the practice until the body is restored. Remember: excessive weight displaces the vertebrae, provokes hernia and trauma.
  3. Carefully monitor breathing.
  4. Follow the technique of each exercise, keeping your back flat.
  5. Increase the load gradually.
  6. Healthy food.
  7. Control sleep and wakefulness.

Do not try to do all the exercises in one workout. Alternate them according to a pre-designed program so that the load on different days was on different back zones. An integrated approach will help you become stronger, train muscles, achieve a beautiful figure. Do not try to concentrate solely on the upper posterior jagged muscle, use the entire back in the completed program.
