A book with your own hands is a great gift that will not leave anyone indifferent. And you can make it both from paper and fabric. The main thing is to determine for which case it is intended.

Basic paper book

The technique of making a self-made book came from the Soviet past, when unofficial publications called samizdat were distributed. Today, this simple process can be used to create wish books, unique photo albums and much more.

So, to create a book you need to take: an even number of sheets (determined depending on the purpose of the book), a press, a large thick needle, a dense thread, twine, gauze, PVA glue, cardboard and cover material.

The book is made by the hands as follows. Sheets are folded in half and formed into notebooks. The number of pages of such notebooks can vary depending on the thickness of the sheets and the purpose of the book. Each such notebook should be sewn with a needle and tight thread so that two symmetrical loops form from the end and the ends of the thread remain for tightening.

Further, all the specimens are sent under the press for shrinkage for about an hour. Then the elements of the future book are connected together. To do this, use two cuts of twine, threaded through the left hinges. As soon as all the notebooks are stacked, the threads that have been sewn together are to be staged step by step. And the received "half-finished product" again leaves for an hour under the press.

Very soon the book will acquire its final form. Now the end of the product is pasted with gauze impregnated with glue "PVA". In this case, the material along the length should be located from the edges of the pages at a distance of about five centimeters.

While glue dries, you should take care of the cover. To do this, you need to prepare two cardboard rectangles that are 2 cm in length and width, and one rectangle of the same material, equal in length to the height of the book plus 2 cm, and the width of the book's end, plus 1 cm in width. Three The parts of the cover are glued together so that the smaller rectangle is in the middle, and the large ones stand on it at a distance of 0.5 cm. The resulting blank is also covered with gauze soaked with PVA gauze and deposited until completely dry.

What kind of cover will our book have? They always make things unique with their own hands. The cover will be special, and therefore the surface of it should be covered with a material that can then be easily decorated.

As soon as both parts have dried out, they are connected with the same PVA and again go under the press, but for half an hour.

Decoration

In this process, you can make changes depending on the purpose of the book. For example, a book of wishes for a wedding, made by hand, can contain not only sheets, but also parchment laid between them. Thus, the recording of each guest after can be supplemented with photos.

Another option is voluminous books. With your own hands, you can make magnificent things, supplemented by applications of cloth or filigree images made with the help of figured punchers.

In addition, you should carefully consider decorating the cover. To do this, you can pay attention to the techniques of scrapbooking, batik or decoupage.
