To do this, you need a fabric, ruches for decoration, a sewing machine, as well as threads, scissors and other small items needed by seamstresses. First, prepare the foundation. To do this, on the selected piece of fabric, it is necessary to note its dimensions, making allowances for seams on each side of about one and a half to two centimeters. Everything is cut out, the edges are crocheted (if there is no overlock, you can process the edges using the "zigzag" line on the sewing machine). This is necessary so that the threads do not get out.

Now you need to prepare ruches. You can choose any width, for example 15 cm. You need to calculate the length yourself. For this, the sizes of all four sides of the tablecloth are added, and the result is multiplied by two. This is to ensure that the ruches are not just edging the tablecloth, but were a little bit folded. Cut the right strip, it must first be wrapped and attached to the length of all sides of the tablecloth. To do this, you can stitch the line with long and weak stitches, moving away from the top edge of the rucola 5 mm, and pull it down to the desired length, trying not to tear the thread. Beautifully distribute the assembly along the entire length of the product. Now you can stitch the product. For this, you can sweep two pieces (tablecloth and ruches) with each other (you need to do this solely with white threads, despite the color of the tablecloth). The experienced seamstress can immediately attach the ruches to the base on the sewing machine. It remains to smooth the seam, iron the tablecloth, and everything is ready!

On the round table

I also want to talk about how you can sew a tablecloth on a round table. Here again, there are several options. It can be just a round tablecloth, the edges of which will beautifully fall, forming folds on their own. To do this, you need to measure the diameter of the countertop, for which a tablecloth is prepared, and determine how much you want to leave to hang. The last digit, multiplied by two, is plus with the first calculation. It is important to remember that you should also leave about 2-3 cm to the table cloth.

Here, first, it is better to make a pattern of the product. To do this, on paper, you need to draw a quarter of a circle with the desired radius (for this you can use a homemade pair of pencils, buttons and a cord). Now you need to cut a tablecloth on the pattern. To do this, it is chalked on the wrong side of the fabric, folded four times, and cut. The edges need to be obverlozhit, bend and stitch. Another option is how you can make round tablecloths with your own hands: it can be a base cut to the size of a table-top, and sewn to it a fabric with folds. Next, two parts of the tablecloth are sewn, the seam is smoothed, and the product itself is ironed (if ironing the tablecloth with steam iron, the traces of the chalk will disappear, the product will not have to be washed).

On the oval table

I also want to tell you how to sew an oval tablecloth. The principle of operation will be very similar to the previous one. To do this, you need to prepare a pattern exactly according to the size of the table top. To do this, the top of the table is redrawn on paper, while it is necessary to add about 30-40 cm on the oval to hang the product. Pattern and fabric fold in four and cut out the tablecloth. It is also important to take into account the allowances for the folding of the product. After that, you need to process the edges of the tablecloth on the overlock and sew the product on the machine. To ensure that the tablecloth is well hung and draped well, it is possible to sew a thin cord into the crochet, it will somewhat weight the product, which will give the corresponding effect.

Scraps

You can create original and beautiful tablecloths by yourself and in other ways. So, we are talking about the product of shreds. To do this, you need to determine the size of the desired thing and make patterns of patches. Good pieces look about 20x20 cm. After counting the required number of them, the scraps need to be cut, leaving 1.5 cm for the allowances on each side. It is important to sweep all edges of the cut parts so that they do not crumble. Now you can collect everything in a ready tablecloth. It is better to sweep all the pieces of white threads together and see the result. If you like everything, you need to sew the product along the lines of basting on the typewriter, smooth the seams. But that's not all, if a woman wants to figure out how to sew strong tablecloths with her own hands. In this version, you will need a lining. It can be one and a half to two centimeters less than the top. In this case, at the end of the sewing, you need to fold the tablecloth and the lining with the wrong sides and bend the edge of the tablecloth so that the edge of the liner is under the hem. But you can cut the lining to the size of the top of the product. Then the edges of the tablecloth together with the lining are stitched and processed with an oblique bake. Tablecloth from shreds is ready!

For kitchen

I would also like to tell you how to sew a tablecloth with your own hands for the kitchen. To do this, you need a printed cloth, which is well erased. Everything is done very simply and according to the familiar scheme. The product is cut to the size of the table, about 30-40 cm is added to the dangling and a couple of centimeters to the hem. After cutting, the edges must be processed and sewn on the sewing machine. That's all, unpretentious and comfortable kitchen table cloth is ready for use!

For the dining room

Going to create different tablecloths with your own hands, the seamstress should know how to make a tablecloth for a dining room with contrasting borders. It looks very beautiful! The base of the product is cut out in the same way as in the previous versions - according to the size of the table top. Curbs are now being prepared. It is necessary to cut four strips, the width of which will be approximately 30 cm. Now the product is sewn: curbs are sewn along the edges diagonally, so that the tablecloth is of regular shape and sewed to the base.
