Supraks for children. What is the remedy?

"Suprax" for children is an antibiotic with a wide spectrum of action. The active substance of this drug is cefixime, which belongs to cephalosporins.

"Suprax" for children is represented by two dosage forms: capsules and granules for the preparation of a suspension, which is applied inside. This drug has a bactericidal property.

"Suprax" for children disrupts the normal formation of the bacterial cell wall. It acts on gram-negative and gram-positive anaerobes and aerobes, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is not destroyed by beta-lactamases. Has a high sensitivity to Proteus mirabilis, Pasteurella multocida, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus agalactiae, Haemophilus influenzae Streptococcus pyogenes, Salmonella spp, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Shigella spp, Klebsiella pneumoniae and so on. However, a large number of Enterobacter, Staphylococcus and Clostridium strains are resistant to cefixime.

Supraks for children is indicated for use in bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, both upper and lower (tonsillitis, bronchitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis), infections of the biliary and urinary tracts, soft tissues and skin; Otitis media, endometritis, osteomyelitis, uncomplicated gonorrhea, which is caused by microorganisms sensitive to this antibiotic, with Lyme disease.

The drug is contraindicated in the presence of hypersensitivity to penicillins, childhood to six months, pregnancy, lactation. Caution should be given in the presence of kidney failure, colitis in the history, the elderly.

Side effects of the drug "Supraks" include allergic reactions (fever, hyperemia and itching on the skin, eosinophilia, urticaria, Stephen-Johnson syndrome, itching in the genital area, toxic epidermal necrolysis). From the side of the nervous system, dizziness, noise in the ears, headache may occur. Vaginitis - from the side of the genital system. Interstitial nephritis and impaired renal function are also possible as side effects of this drug. The digestive system can respond to the administration of this drug with a variety of symptoms: stomatitis, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, dysbiosis, cholestatic jaundice, pseudomembranous colitis. Changes in the organs of hematopoiesis can be as follows: leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, bleeding, neutropenia, hemolytic or aplastic anemia, pancytopenia.

In laboratory indicators, hypercreatininaemia, hyperbilirubinemia, as well as an increase in urea, transaminase, prothrombin time are noted . In addition, dyspnea, hypovitaminosis of B vitamins, and candidamycosis may occur.

In case of overdosage, gastric lavage, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis are ineffective.

Supraks. Dosage: For children of different ages, different doses should be used accordingly. At the age of one year, 2.5-4 ml, 5 ml - at the age of 2-4 years, for children 5-11 years, the dose per day should be 6-10 ml. Take the drug 2 times a day.

Treatment "Suprax" should be conducted 7-10 days.

To prepare the suspension, flip the vial and shake the powder a little. Then add cold boiled water (about 40 ml) in two stages, then shake until a homogeneous mass is formed. Then let it brew for 5 minutes to allow the powder to dissolve completely. Before use, it must be shaken well. Syrup "Supraks" is made from granules, has a strawberry flavor. This makes it much easier to use this medication in children.
