Strawberry "alexandria" - garden on the windowsill

Aromatic and sweet strawberries are loved by almost everyone. But to really enjoy the taste of this berry is possible only by those who will grow it themselves. During transportation, it crumples, so the market reaches a somewhat retentive form.

In addition, the taste of his crop is diluted by labor and love, invested in it. However, berries can be grown not only in the garden in the country, but in the house, and even in the apartment. For example, strawberries "Alexandria" can perfectly grow on the windowsill. Of course, in this case one does not have to count on a big harvest, but it is quite possible to get a deep plate of this fragrant berry from each bush. The seedlings, obtained from seeds and planted in a pot, allow the fruit to be harvested from the beginning of summer to the end of autumn. Strawberry remanant "Alexandria", characterized by rapid growth, has no antennae, in addition, it is appreciated by gardeners for continuous fruiting. It can form bushes a little more than twenty centimeters high.

Berries

Depending on the season, the conditions of keeping and the correctness of the strawberries' care, "Alexandria" can yield up to a thousand berries per season. It has oblong fruits of medium density with a red color. Home-grown varieties are much larger compared to forest varieties, in addition, they have a slightly different taste and smell. If we consider that the strawberry "Alexandria" is a plant of an intensive type, it becomes clear why it is so successfully growing at home, turning over in two years into a relatively large lush bush. However, already in the second year the plant grows so much that it starts to interfere with the neighbors, as a result, the berries grow smaller, and the yield decreases. Collection of strawberries is carried out gradually, as the fruit ripens.

Cultivation and reproduction

The first stage is the preparation of the soil. For this, three parts of sand with five parts of friable humus are mixed. This mixture must be heated for three hours in the oven at a centigrade temperature. The strawberry Alexandria is sown in March or early April. Pre-prepared soil must be poured into the box, ramming and moistening it, and on the resulting surface, you need to carefully place a mixture of seeds with sand. Gardeners know that at the same time it is necessary to constantly monitor that the seeds do not accidentally fall into the depths. Germination of sprouts can occur for a maximum of thirty days. To accelerate the process, the seed box should be covered with polyethylene. It should be put for two days on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Seedlings are dived in pots after the appearance of a maximum of two real leaves. Propagation of strawberry "Alexandria" seeds or the division of the rosette.

Care

The plant is grown on the sunny side of the house, where it will grow as comfortably as it does on the garden plot. Water should be watered regularly, but without excess moisture stagnation. Top dressing is carried out twice a month. Liquid concentrates are used as fertilizers. After his fifth leaf of strawberry "Alexandria", reviews of which are only positive, throws out flower arrows with buds. For more effective pollination, the plant should be shaken better or the pollen should be transferred with a brush for drawing. In the room conditions, the greatest harm to this plant is caused by the strawberry mite and the sawfly, and from the diseases it is most often affected by gray mold or powdery mildew, appearing as a result of a strong overmoistening of the soil.
