Smear on the flora. Analysis of the analysis

A general smear on the flora (bacterioscopy) is a laboratory method for studying the microflora of the vagina. This analysis is relatively quick, as a rule, after taking the analysis, a woman does not feel discomfort.

A smear on the flora during pregnancy is an obligatory analysis. This study is very important in assessing the state of health of a woman during the antenatal period.

To determine the presence of pathogenic (pathogenic) bacteria in the body, a smear on the flora is used first. Deciphering the analysis also allows to reveal the presence or absence of inflammatory processes. However, it should be noted that in the presence of infection, it is impossible to determine the degree of sensitivity of its pathogen by means of bacterioscopy. In such cases, a bacterial culture is prescribed after a smear is applied to the flora. Deciphering in this case will give a more complete diagnostic picture.

It should be noted that, as one of the most accessible tests, bacterioscopy has become an integral part of a gynecological examination with a diagnostic or prophylactic purpose. In determining the disorders of the functions of the female reproductive system of a primary nature, a smear on the flora is indispensable.

The interpretation of the analysis may be incorrect if certain requirements were not observed before the sampling of the material and directly during it.

Before taking the test for a few days, a woman is recommended to cancel taking medications, in particular, she will have to give up using vaginal suppositories (candles). In addition, douching is not recommended immediately before taking the analysis, for a day should be abandoned sexual intercourse.

Smear on the flora. Explanation

Mucous, lining the vagina and cervix, has a layer called the flat epithelium. Normally (when the woman is healthy), the cells of this layer are present in the smear. In their absence, the doctor may suspect a hormonal failure in the body. In other words, the patient has elevated the level of male hormones, and the level of female (estrogen) is lower. In addition, the absence of flat epithelial cells in the smear can indicate the atrophy of this layer of mucosa.

As is known, leukocytes perform a protective function in the body. A healthy woman (normal), their number in the smear should not be more than fifteen units in sight. The increased content of leukocytes suggests that the body has an inflammatory process. As a rule, it is colpitis or vaginitis. It should be noted that the higher the level of leukocytes, the more acute pathology.

In the smear, staphylococcus can be contained in a small amount. This indicator refers to the norm. However, with its high concentration combined with a high level of white blood cells, a doctor may suspect severe inflammation in the vaginal or uterine mucosa.

The only permissible microorganisms in the smear are Dederlein sticks. These beneficial bacteria make up the healthy microflora of the vagina.

If cocci is detected in a smear, then, as a rule, it indicates the development of a venereal disease.

Rods of gardnerella are pathogens of gardnellosis. Identification of these bacteria in the smear indicates that either the disease develops, or the woman suffers from a pronounced dysbacteriosis.

In the smear can be present and atypical cells (glued together with squamous cells of the flat epithelium). They also indicate a dysbiosis.

The presence of fungus candida in the smear testifies to the development of progressive candidiasis (thrush). In the asymptomatic course of the pathology, fungal spores are found in the analysis.
