Slipknot - masks of horror

There is such a group - Slipknot. Freakish and even (I'm not afraid of this word) brutal-looking guys, wearing branded Slipknot masks and overalls, literally burn the audience. Plus, not always aesthetic behavior, spattered with vomiting scene and a lot of other nuances that clearly distinguish the guys from the total mass of rockers. I do not argue, they have high-quality music, although they are clearly not remembering this. The style of singing is nu-metal, alternative metal.

Image nothing? Controversial issue

Slipknot masks, according to the group members themselves, are a way to remove their faces from the screens, so that the audience listens to music only and does not bother with the appearance of the musicians. Well, if they really believe in it, then so be it. But in fact Slipknot-masks played the opposite action - they became popular, and no one will confuse the musicians of Slipknot with other rock-colleagues.

The year of the formation of the group is 1992, that is, it is more than twenty years. But the mask first appeared three years later, that is, in 1995. The idea was suggested by Sean Crahan, who, having put on the mask of the clown, annealed the most "do not play around" on stage. The same way, the other comrades in the group naturally took advantage of the difference. Then it was akin to insanity, and so much so that the masks were on the artists not only on stage, but also at meetings with fans, the media. Some sort of people of the IRS who did not want anyone to see the true face of everyone.

Although, according to the words of Sean Crahan, he is simply sickening to look at himself on video without a mask. Apparently, he does not particularly like to bother with his appearance, and therefore, in order not to provoke the masses of people into gossip, he put on the mask and lost all the make-up problems.

The other group mates selected Slipknot masks for their own spiritual world, how they see themselves. With this, at least, Joey Jordison and Corey Taylor quite agree. The latter said that the mask reflects the whole negative of his essence (although it was said more specifically, but it is hardly possible to publicly voice his speech).

But one day Joey Jordison hinted that a performance in one of the clubs, figuratively speaking, made them lose their faces, after which the era of mysterious guys from Slipknot came. It is not known what happened at that performance, but it is clear that they were greatly offended.

After that, Slipknot had to wear masks. Of course, everything in the world is changing. And they also changed. As the Slipknot group developed, new masks gradually changed the appearance of the band members. And even later the guys began to appear in public without them. Here they are, the many faces of the group Slipknot!

Overalls for participants

Following the masks, the group also had overalls. Judging by the words of the same Sean Crahan, he put on overalls first and all for the same reason - someone said something about his appearance and game. In addition, in inconvenient clothes, it was somewhat difficult for him to play the drums. Already at the next performance the drummer came in working overalls. The rest of the guys also got infected with this idea. To play it became much more convenient. Over time, their clothing changed, its symbolism and appearance changed. The fabric became denser. Corey Taylor joked somehow about playing in such "braziers", saying that they are losing weight in this way, as in the forty-degree heat the temperature in the suit is doubled. This he called slimming in the style of Slipknot. However, with their lifestyle without humor anywhere. And after the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010, and do need to hold, as they have already worn out a bit, cooled down. Although they continue to stamp albums.
