Here he spent his childhood and the great Peter I. Here he first became acquainted with the basics of navigation, riding on an old English boutique, found in a conventional barn. This place was named "The Cradle of the Russian Fleet".

In the second half of the XX century on the island, the existing structures were restored, new sports grounds and a stadium were built. They strengthened the banks and cleared the bottom of the reservoir, built two boat stations, organized park recreation areas and a beach for the city. Today this place is a memorial estate.

Silver-Vine Ponds: location

In the east of the city of Moscow, near the metro station "Izmailovsky Park", this reserved place is located.

Silver pond is located by the Serebryanka River (Pervomaiskaya street). It is one of the oldest urban ponds on the island.

History of the formation and origin of the name

The history of the origin of the name can be determined from events that have occurred since distant past times. Even in the XVII century the pond under consideration was called Serebryany, or Serebryansky, due to the fact that it is located in the floodplain of the river. Serebryanka. And part of the pond is also known as the Vine Pond. This was due to the fact that there were Izmailov's gardens, which were created long ago by the order of the ruler - the royal patrimony. Silver-Vine ponds are mostly famous for the fact that in these gardens were grown a variety of southern exotic fruits and vegetables, including grapes.

During the construction of the royal estate, the local river was blocked by a grape dam, and in the channel above this dam a Vine Pond was created. In its waters at that time beautiful vines of grapes were reflected. The sight was an extraordinary beauty! Soon these two ponds were united and formed an island.
