Sights of Nizhny Tagil: museums, monuments, temples

Nizhny Tagil is the largest industrial center of a large region - the Urals. The city is proud of the factories producing high-quality rolled metal, which (a confirmed legend) was ordered here for the assembly of the Statue of Liberty in New York. Here the famous son and father of the Cherepanovs developed a locomotive - the first domestic one. And the local car-building plant, in addition to the wagons for OAO Russian Railways, produces modern tanks.

Nizhny Tagil is a city with a difficult fate and a long history. But he gave the world many talented people, who are proud of all the Russians.

"Vyskaya merchant woman"

It is impossible to see the sights of Nizhny Tagil in one day. To the old and ancient interesting places of this city modern sculptures are added. For example, "Vyskaya merchant", asleep in her bed right near the Alexandrovsky passage.

Samples of military products

Most of the monuments and famous places are in the center or close to it. For example, right under the open sky on the central Lenin street there are samples of military products of the Nizhny Tagil plant: a copy of the first Cherepanov steam locomotive, a T-34 tank, non-standard wheel form, rails and other products of the city's factories.

Tower

The first interesting sight of Nizhny Tagil is the Watchtower. She is almost two centuries old. The tower is the highest point of pride. Historians argue is not the first ten-year period, from when and why it is so called. After all, by the time of its erection in these places there were no raids. There is an assumption that the Watchtower was used as an observation post. Since very long the city consisted of wooden buildings, there were frequent fires. Therefore, historians suppose, there was a bell on the tower and, most likely, lights.

In 1837, the Tsarevich Alexander Nikolayevich visited the city, and many fires were lit for his meeting at Fox Mountain .
There is still a version that this tower is nothing more than an observatory. Pavel Demidov, the founder of Nizhny Tagil, aspired to make it comfortable and technically modern. Therefore it is quite possible that they observed the starry sky. Especially in the city in the pedagogical institute for a long time kept an old telescope, which was recently transferred to the Nizhnetagil museum-reserve.

"The Lord's house"

Studying the sights of the city, it is necessary to visit the "Lord's house" of the mining settlement.

Since 1997, this house is called the Museum of Life and Crafts. It occupies a large two-story mansion, built in the XIX century by industrialist Demidov.

The exposition of the first floor is devoted to the traditional occupations of the residents of the Gornozavodsky district of the era of the change of centuries. The halls of the second floor will tell about the process of urbanization of Nizhny Tagil, about how the settlement became a city. Expositions are rich in old photographs revealing the look of a factory-type settlement, clothing of the population of that time, and the way of life of serfs in this district. In one of the rooms you can see an exemplary interior of the living room of the manager's house and the front door.

Monument to Peter and Fevronia

What other attractions of Nizhny Tagil are still known? Monuments. You can start by visiting the patrons of family happiness: Peter and Fevronia. The monument is just over 15 years old, and he is already one of the most visited and loved ones.

The history of the lives of these saints today is also a model for imitation of married couples. This is how it is necessary to build a married life, according to God's covenants. They loved each other all their long life, and having felt the imminent arrival of death, took a monastic vow in the male and female monasteries respectively, and went to another world in one day and hour. Before the spouses died, they were left to be put in one coffin and buried together. Monks did not follow the will of the couple. And soon a miracle happened: under the vigilant gaze of the monks praying beside them, the bodies of Peter and Fevronia were in one coffin. Although physically they were far apart.

The monument to Peter and Fevronia Muromsky was simple and laconic. Spouses in simple clothes stand on the pedestal, their feet wrap around the symbol of the Garden of Eden. Inside the pedestal there is a lamp, who thinks it is right, can put a candle in it and even pray for family well-being (the prayer is knocked out on the other side of the pedestal).
An interesting fact is that the monument was ordered and manufactured by local entrepreneur Alexander Kubyshev. He independently prepared a place for the pedestal and installed a fountain (previously conducted a water pipe to it).

And the installation of the monument surprised the "miraculous" phenomenon of workers. They claim that the figures of the saints were perfect at once, without fitting and adjusting, as if they really wanted to.

Museum of Armored Vehicles

Not far from the famous Ural Carriage Works there is a museum with a rare exposition. Opened it in 1986 to the anniversary of the enterprise according to the order of the director. Initially, the museum's exhibitions were only available to factory workers. In 1988, the museum made a warehouse for finished products. But at the same time the exhibits were preserved.

The building was returned to the museum only in 1997. At the same time, the first excursions began to take place in the expositions. In 2006, the museum ceased to obey the factory and opened the doors to all comers. This memorable excursion was accompanied by the governor of the region, veterans of the rear and the war, as well as the archbishop.

The modern museum has more than a thousand unique exhibits in the exposition. These are all kinds of tools, machines, surveillance equipment, parts of military vehicles, etc. A separate exhibition site is devoted to sketches and drawings of the plant from Kharkov, which builds locomotives.

Among the presented equipment - there are armored cars of the times of the Great Patriotic War, in which you can touch everything, see and even climb and sit.

Memorials to the victims

Sights of Nizhny Tagil are represented by several memorials to the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War.

The memorial is similar to a large rectangular column. All sides of it are "covered" with the names of the dead. At the end of each list are years. Near the column you can see the monument itself. This is the second part of the memorial. On the large wall are depicted bas-reliefs of soldiers in motion. This is a memorable place near the railway station, which is very symbolic, because it is a memorial to the dead soldiers of the railwaymen.

The grand opening of the monument took place on October 5, 1978. On the same day, the centennial of the Sverdlovsk railway was celebrated . Anatoly Neverov, his idea conveyed the unity of the front and rear in the work of railway workers.

In May 2012, the names of the local soldier Prokopia Tolmachev, found by the search engines, were added to the names embroidered on column 246.

On this dear city place there are solemn events dedicated to the celebration of 9 May. And even a tradition appeared every year to plant a birch memorial near the memorial. Formed a small grove.

Conclusion

This is not all the attractions of Nizhny Tagil. In the city there is a beautiful drama theater, built on the model of Greek theaters. The administration building deserves special attention of the lovers of constructivism, a unique monument to the father and son of Cherepanov and many other interesting and unique memorial places.
