Sexual organs of dolphins: description

Dolphins always caused genuine interest in a person's behavior and features of the structure. Scientists carefully study all parts of the body of this animal, including exploring the genitals of dolphins. At present, this topic has been studied in some detail and is well covered in the relevant literature.

Sexual organs of dolphins: features of the structure of the female

The female dolphin has a single urogenital fold, which extends parallel to the belly. In her there is an anal output. In front of the dense fibrous connective tissue emerges clitoris, which is well developed. He has a cavernous body and a thick, white shell.

Behind him there is an outlet for urination, a little further in front of the anal opening is a narrow genital slit. The outer sexual organ of the female dolphin is the large and small labia.

Immediately after the genital aperture, the diameter of the vagina is maximized. Near the entrance there are several longitudinal folds, which gradually decrease towards the middle of the genital organ.

In the middle, the longitudinal folds disappear, and a small section reveals folds of the transverse form, which are called circular folds.

The afalina has from 2 to 4 large circular folds located at the top of the vagina. Near the neck of the uterus is a two-three-centimeter fold, called a pseudo-neck, with a narrowed hole that resembles a real cervix.

With its back wall together with the front wall of the present cervix, it forms a chamber where sperm is taken. In this chamber, the bottlenose dolphin can contain from 6 to 10 milliliters of sperm.

Such a sinkhole is morphologically adapted so that the animals can successfully reproduce in the marine environment. In the case of mating, the male enters his organ into this chamber. After it is removed, the pseudo-muscle shortens the muscles, the sea water does not flow to the spermotazi, otherwise they would perish. The hymen is not found in the female dolphin.

Sexual characteristics of males

The sexual organs of male dolphins are distinguished by the presence of the perineum, which separates the anal exit and the sexual fold.

The dolphin does not have a scrotum, the location of the testes is the abdominal cavity. With a dolphin body temperature of 37 degrees Celsius, spermatogenesis passes normally, the critical temperature for this process is 38 degrees.

In order not to heat the testes from the work of strong tail muscles, nature created an inguinal countercurrent heat exchange system called the inguinal plexus.

In venous blood, it is possible to cool during circulation along the dorsal and caudal fins, after which it enters the venous inguinal plexus. There, the chilled blood passes through the venous vessels located next to the arteries in the inguinal plexus. Thus, the blood entering the testes is somewhat cooled by heat exchange processes, in which chilled venous and warm arterial blood is involved.

Structure of testicles

The shape of the testes in the dolphin is elongated, almost cylindrical. Above the testes is surrounded by a smooth, white membrane, which is attached to the fibrous.

The testis has a typical lobular structure, but it has a very large proportion, much larger than that of other animal species. Male adult dolphins have testes measuring 29 by 9 centimeters, weighing about 600 grams, seminiferous tubules with a diameter of 200 microns.

Maturation of different parts of the testes of the male dolphin occurs at different times.

What is the size of the genitalia in the dolphin?

When the dolphin is at rest, its penis in the form of a loop is hidden in a special fold. It is supported by muscles that draw in a penis and push it out in the event of arousal.

In the process of erection, the sexual organs of dolphins are excited due to the fibroelastic structure of the penis, relaxed retractor muscles and swelling due to high blood flow. The penis is half immersed in the fold of the prepuce. It has a slight bend in the form of the English letter S and a thick belly shell.

In the excited state, the size of the sexual organ of the dolphin changes insignificantly. The diameter of the penis is about 8 and a half centimeters, its length is from 25 to 33 centimeters.
