Self-cultivation of celery

Not everyone in our country knows the taste of celery, although everyone probably heard the name. If you had to try the instant cooking soups of Germany, then you surely remembered their interesting taste and pleasant smell - almost all of them are made with the addition of this seasoning. And, although some people may not like celery in their food, most of them still appreciate it. However, in the question of how to plant celery, there are few specialists or even just well-informed people.

This plant is not only successfully used in cooking in various forms, but also serves as an excellent remedy for diseases of the kidneys, bladder, gout, pneumonia, rheumatism, as well as for the prevention of cancer and the strengthening of the nervous system.

Despite this, in Russia there are not so many places where it is grown. Therefore, some people are engaged in breeding it on sites for sale or directly in homes and apartments for their own purposes. Cultivation of celery is not as easy as it may seem. The plant is rather meticulous in terms of the required conditions.

Perhaps you will find this activity interesting. Set up sales possible through pharmacies, shops or manufacturers of condiments. But before you start looking for sales, you need to master the cultivation of celery. To begin with, this plant is of three different types. Celery is divided into root, chershkovy and leaf. The latter two do not have root crops, but they are successfully used for salad preparation and adding to various dishes as a seasoning. Root crops are a separate topic, they are more valuable than leaves and petioles.

Celery refers to biennial plants. Just take it and put it - waste time. The land should be well-fertilized, rich in humus and well-loosened. If last year, on this basis, carrots, parsley or parsnips grew, it is better not to plant it there - it will grow poorly. Ideally, celery, cabbage, cucumber or onions should precede celery. This plant prefers light and open spaces. Closed and shady places, on the contrary, he does not like. Of course, you can try growing celery in such conditions, but here you will have to rely on luck: in the shade and enclosed spaces, it is often affected by fungi.

That's not all. Constantly to put it in the same place it is impossible - the break from three till five years is necessary. Seeds require a two-day soaking, then they must be planted in a box or other device for growing seedlings. A good soil for seedlings is turf with humus and sand. Seeds are planted shallow, half a centimeter, in mid-February. Cover with glass or polyethylene. After the appearance of the first 3-5 leaves, a picking is necessary, and in May, 10 days before planting, the seedlings are taken out to the street - so that the plant gets used to the climate change. Before planting, it is advisable to dip the roots in a mixture of clay and manure. Watering the plants - under the root.

Cultivation of root celery will provide tasty fruits - a good addition to your table. This species can be consumed both in fried and stewed form, and in dried, in addition, it is used as a seasoning for marinades and pickles. Its harvest is about 300 kg from one hundred parts (root crops), besides there is still a decent number of leaves. However, it is undesirable to reduce the distance between plants, this will not lead to an increase in yield, but rather vice versa. The normal spacing between seedlings is 15-20 cm, and between rows - 40 cm.

Planting and leaving are almost the same for any species. Cultivation of celery may seem difficult in the first year of practice, but this year you will gain experience, and next time everything will be much easier.
