History of development

Specialists of the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant, who were entrusted with the development of weapons, made an attempt to introduce into the design a rather complicated firewall. As a result, the designers were entrusted to produce a cheaper alternative.

For the creation of the Saiga MK-107 carbine, a balanced automation was used later and along with the possibility of conducting fire by single series, a system was introduced that opened the possibility for firing with continuous bursts.

Despite the implementation of the tasks assigned to the developers, the Saiga MK-107 did not find proper application as a combat unit for the arming of army formations. Quite low demand for the model was observed both in the foreign and domestic markets.

In the end, the specialists quite unexpectedly decided to reorient the release of the Saiga MK-107 carbine for civilian use. In particular, the target audience were to be athletes who performed in shooting disciplines. Automation

"Saiga MK-107" contains two gas pistons that are placed in a common cylinder and move to meet each other. The piston, which is in the rear position, is connected by a rod to the bolt frame. After the shot is fired, the latter is retracted, and the front piston, connected with the bolt system by an elongated balance bar, moves in the opposite direction.

Counter movement of the slide frame and balance bar is performed due to the presence of a pair of gears that are placed in a static-locked carriage and contact the holes in the rod of the bolt frame.

The spring of the return action of the shutter is placed in a stamped receiver, somewhat offset from the axis of the weapon to the left. Locking the barrel is due to the rotation of the bolt for several fighting stops. The corresponding handles for performing this action are on the two sides of the bolt frame.

Fuse

"Saiga Mk-107" has a fuse, made in the form of a transverse button. The latter is located above the trigger box. The weapon sample differs by a gate delay. Compared with the same AK, has a protruding magazine receiver.

Butt
