How it all began

The group "Chaif" officially appeared in 1984 in Sverdlovsk. However, before that the company of musicians from Vladimir Shahrin, Vladimir Begunov and other school friends spent several years playing the music of Western rock bands and performing on dance floors. In 1983, Shahrin met Oleg Reshetnikov and Vladimir Kukushkin, who persuaded him to create a new band that would perform the songs he wrote. Vladimir called in a new group of an old friend Begunov. A little later Kukushkin goes into the army, but it is the group that owes him the name. The word "chaif" comes from the merger of the words "tea" and "buzz", just so Kukushkin called very strong tea, brewed by the boys during rehearsals. When it took the name of the collective, this word popped up, which everyone liked very much.

The first official concert group "Chaif" gives September 29, 1985 in the Sverdlovsk Palace of Culture. However, by this time the group already had a magnetoalbum "Verkh-Isetsky Pond", the record of which was produced on such an amateur level that the group does not include it in its official discography. However, it is thanks to this record, which fell into the hands of journalist Andrei Matveev, that the collective is invited to participate in a concert rock music concert where Shahrin meets the best musicians of the city.

Years of formation

In 1985, the group "Chaif" records a double magnetoalbum "Life in the pink smoke". In 1986, the team triumphantly performs at the first Sverdlovsk rock festival, earning popularity among listeners and respect from colleagues. The fame of the group did not go unnoticed by the authorities, and it was added to the list of banned, Shahrin was summoned to the relevant bodies and demanded to promise that he would never again write and sing songs. But in the autumn of 1986 the band recorded a new album "Saturday Evening in Sverdlovsk" with a company of musicians known in the city, including Vyacheslav Butusov, Dmitry Umetsky, Yegor Belkin. The recording was later lost, but its resonance was very great.

In 1987, "Chaif", a rock band touring a lot, attending a festival in Riga, participating in Lituanica-88 and winning real popular love. Their fame grows, the composition changes periodically, but the unchanged Shahrin-Begun pair ensures its stability and uniform orientation. Although from the album to the album the sound of the band could be different, but the lyrics remained bright and memorable.

Blossoming and glory

In 2000, Chaif celebrated its 15th anniversary with a big start, the final point in the tour was the 20 thousandth concert in the "Olympic".
