Pressed flooring: characteristics, parameters, application

Modern building technologies make it possible to produce materials characterized by increased wear resistance and high functionality. So, for manufacturing of the pressed metal flooring a cellular lattice is used. This provides the material with exceptional strength and lightness.

Cold-rolled steel is used for making the grate. From it, the strips are formed, which are fixed in the bearing fins of the flooring with a step corresponding to the size of the cells. Additional strength of the structure is attached to the reinforcing profile, which is attached to its edges. This technology allows to achieve an even load distribution on the material, provides resistance to torsion and deformation.

Technological features of the material

Pressed flooring is usually made of aluminum or carbon steel, manufactured in accordance with GOST 380-2005. The use of substitutes for these materials is allowed if their properties do not differ from those prescribed by the standard.

But sometimes there is a need for flooring, which has special characteristics. So, if you require a particularly strong material that withstands considerable physical loads, the gratings are formed from steel manufactured in accordance with GOST 19281-99 or GOST 17066-94. If flooring, which is insensitive to moisture and a chemically aggressive environment, is needed, the so-called stainless steel is used for its production, which meets the requirements of GOST 5632-72. For the production of light and very strong gratings, aluminum alloys are required, the manufacturing technology of which is described in GOST 4784-97.

As already mentioned, pressed flooring is not a solid steel sheet. 80% of its area is occupied by voids - lattice cells. But this does not affect the strength of the material. With a correct load distribution, the steel grating can withstand a mass of up to 800 tons.

All technological parameters, according to which the flooring is made, are standardized. For the carrier strip they are:

  • Height - from 2 cm to 17 cm.
  • Thickness - from 2 mm to 5 mm.
  • The pitch of the bands is always a multiple of 11. For example, the cells can have dimensions 33x11, 33x22.

The maximum length of the deck along the tie strip can be 2800 mm, on the carrier - 2200 mm.

Areas of application of pressed flooring

The pressed flooring is universal. It is used both in domestic and in industrial construction. After all, this material has not only high functionality, but also a rich aesthetic potential. It can be used for:

  • Decorative facade decoration;
  • Erection of sun protection structures;
  • Installation of suspended ceilings.

Pressed flooring can be used in power plants and oil rigs, in metallurgical plants and in mines. It is used even in shipbuilding. After all, the grid is light and strong, it is able to provide natural ventilation of the room and additional lighting.

Often, the pressed flooring is used to erect temporary structures. This material is cheap, practical and easy to assemble in any complexity.

Another popular area of its application is the construction of stairs. The resulting designs will not only be strong and durable, but also light enough.

Why is pressed molding so popular?

This material was designed as a lighter and cheaper analogue of PVL products (expanded metal). But now the pressed flooring is in great demand in the construction market. There are many reasons for this:

  • Due to the carrier strip and the reinforcing frame, the deck does not allow the structure to bend and swing.
  • This material is lighter, stronger and able to withstand heavy loads.
  • There are flooring modifications that are resistant to aggressive environments and have a long service life.
  • This material is fixed with removable connections, and PVL should be welded.
  • You can install anti-skid elements on the flooring.
  • Provides additional lighting and ventilation, skips the rain and snow, prevents precipitation from accumulating on the surface of the structures.
  • The deck is easy to repair, but its performance characteristics do not suffer.
  • The material is presented in various sizes, among which it is easy to choose the right option.
