Popular attractions in Kineshma

The picturesque Kineshma (Ivanovo region), the first mention of which dates back to 1429, is located on the high Volga shore. The distance that separates the provincial city from the capital is 400 km, from the regional center - 100 km. According to the level of development of industry and population, Kineshma retains the second place after Ivanov. The number of residents exceeds the figure of 90 thousand people.

Volzhsky Boulevard, temples, monuments of architecture and other interesting places

Many of Kineshma's attractions are located along the Volga Boulevard, one of the city's favorite pastime spots. The line of the boulevard until the XVII century served as the boundary of a fortified settlement. Later, wooden pavements were laid here, fences and gazebos were installed.

In the 20s of the last century the place changed its appearance: the tracks were asphalted, and the wooden fences were replaced with cast-iron ones. By that time, the boulevard was already adorned with the first stone buildings standing along it (the House of the Nobility, the mansions of the rich and noble townspeople, the City Council, the places of interest), which are still of interest as sights today. Kineshma is a city with a rich cultural and historical heritage. Famous figures of Russian culture - playwright A. N. Ostrovsky and artist N. N. Kustodiev, writer A. A. Potekhin and astronomer F. A. Bredikhin, walked along its embankment. Here, the scenes from domestic films, loved by millions of spectators, were shot: "The Bride", "Vassa Zheleznova", "Wolves and Sheep". Even in Soviet times, various city events were held in this place. And today the residents of Kineshma celebrate on one of the most beautiful boulevards from all those that decorate the banks of the Volga, city holidays. They come here to see theatrical performances, to participate in various events (concerts, exhibitions, competitions). Along the well-groomed embankment there are other, no less interesting, Kineshma attractions. The most elevated area above the river is the ensemble of the Assumption and Troitsky cathedrals, consisting of powerful five-domed churches and a 87-meter high bell tower with a slender spire, looking upwards. On the territory of the city there are several ancient temples, each of which has its own rich history. Well-preserved stone buildings of the historical center, built in the pre-revolutionary period, are also the object of attention of tourists visiting Kineshma's sights. Some of them - the bank building, the Red and White shopping arcades - are still used to this day. Exhibits of the local art historical museum and the picture gallery are eloquent testimonies of the rich history of the region. Not only Kineshma's attractions, located in the city, attract tourists here. There are also neighborhoods that for the beauty of the blue waters and emerald green forests are called "Volga Switzerland".

Today, the efforts of local residents and authorities are aimed at implementing activities to turn a hospitable city into one of the most important tourist centers of the region.
