How to get to Kronstadt in different ways

The question of how to get to Kronstadt, occupies many people who come to St. Petersburg. Even not all those who are often visited in the city on the Neva, can boast that they know the road there. And the place is very interesting, and it's worth visiting once in my life. The fortress town of Kronstadt is on the island of Kotlin in the Gulf of Finland. It was founded in 1703 by Peter the Great and was intended to protect the new Russian capital from invasion from the sea. The city was formed on the island, in conditions of some isolation from the outside world. And this is due to its unlike appearance.

How to get to Kronstadt

Once it was not so simple, but today the situation has radically changed. After the construction of the dam across the Gulf of Finland and the opening of the through car traffic with the isolation of the island of Kotlin was over. And the question of how to get to Kronstadt began to boil down to what direction it would be more convenient for you to come from, from the north or from the south. That is, in which part of the city you are, from what direction do you approach it on the ring road that goes around the city. An integral part of this ring road is the dam, passing through the island of Kotlin. If you entered the ring road to the south of the Vantovoy bridge across the Neva, then you should steer in the direction of the southern half-circle of the dam and tunnel under the bay. And, accordingly, to the north of the Cable Bridge, the road to Kronstadt will be shorter through the northern bypass of the city. It should be noted that the southern route is preferable - there is less traffic, most of the freight transport follows the northern bypass of the city. And if you do not have your own car, then there is nothing easier than to get to Kronstadt by shuttle. To make such a trip it is possible from several points of the city, the prices range from 18 to 45 rubles, depending on the distance of the final stop of the route. The easiest way to get on a minibus at the final stop near the metro station "Black River". He goes to the island of Kotlin and the city bus route 101, he goes from the metro station "Staraya derevnya" with an interval of 15 minutes to half an hour, the fare is 18 rubles, the journey time is about an hour. The bus is usually a lot of people, it is preferable to use a fixed-route taxi.

On the Neva to Kronstadt. How to get to the water on the island of Kotlin

And sometimes it is interesting to remember the story, especially when there is nowhere to hurry. The young generation of St. Petersburg residents already do not remember that once there were no options how to overcome the path of St. Petersburg-Kronstadt. How to get there, the question did not arise - only on the boat and nothing else. But it can be done today, such an excursion will be very interesting and informative. Since 2009, in the direction of Kronstadt, one of the five urban water taxi routes operates. But the profitability of water transport is a big question. With a ticket price of 200 rubles, it is used mostly by tourists. In addition, this mode of transport simply ceases to function in stormy weather.
