Planting Pepper on the Seedlings

The native land of pepper is South Asia and South America. Pepper is a perennial plant, but in Russia it is cultivated as an annual culture. Pepper is of two kinds: hot and sweet, or as it is called in our country - Bulgarian.

The pepper has a long growing season, ranging from 110 to 140 days, so the planting of pepper for seedlings starts early, approximately from the middle of January. The timing of the pepper planting depends on when the seedlings are planted in the ground. For the middle band, peppers should be planted no later than the first decade of February, for southern regions - not later than on the tenth of March.

If the timing of the pepper planting was delayed, then a month after emergence of seeds, seedlings need additional illumination for twelve hours by 40-80 W fluorescent lamps. Planting peppers on seedlings is similar to the technique of growing tomatoes. For themselves, mainly sweet peppers are grown, and sharp ones are planted in small quantities.

Planting pepper on seedlings begins with the preparation of seeds. They are first sorted, broken, broken, incomplete, then disinfected in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, and then tempered, put on a plate and covered with moist gauze and periodically moistened. For six days, the seeds are kept in this mode: during the day - at +20, at night - at +3, placing in the refrigerator. Then the seeds are placed for 5 hours in a biostimulating solution, for example, a solution of microelements, prepared from one tablespoon of wood ash and a liter of water.

After this, the seeds are dried and sown in a box filled with ready-made universal soil. The lunar calendar of the gardener and gardener will tell you the best days for planting pepper. A dash indicates that there are no favorable days for pepper planting. On such days it is not recommended to plant seeds.
The soil for seedlings is better prepared by yourself, taking two parts of the earth, one part of sand and one part of peat. Before planting, fill the soil with fertilizer and mix thoroughly. For ten liters of soil, you need to take 50 grams of camel universals. Seeds are sown in striae to a depth of 1 cm and covered with a polyethylene film. The distance between the seeds is two centimeters, and between the rows - five centimeters.

At a temperature of 25 degrees the seeds rise on the ninth day, at 17 degrees - on the twentieth, and at a temperature above 30 degrees the seeds die. The soil must be well warmed, otherwise the seeds will go on longer and may even die. Seedlings can not be kept in a draft, otherwise it will fall ill. Strong and healthy seedlings can be obtained only with good lighting and observing a certain temperature regime: during the day - 25-28 degrees, at night - 12-15. If these conditions are not respected, the seedlings will be long and frail.
When the seedlings have 2-3 real leaves, it is dived, shortening the root by one third. This stimulates the growth of the lateral roots. Sprinkle the seedlings once a week with warm, preferably snow-water. If water from the tap is used, it must be given to stand.

To feed the seedlings, it is necessary, starting with the fourth week, using a fertilizer of kemir-lux or kemir-combi 10 grams for five liters of water or two tablespoons of superphosphate for ten liters of water.

The first flowers, which appeared in early May, should be cut off without regret and do so until the seedlings land in the open ground. During the appearance of the first flowers, the main stem should be pinched - this will stimulate the growth of lateral shoots.

Well-groomed pepper seedlings at the time of landing in the ground can be beautiful and powerful, the root system completely fills the container in which the seedlings are. For planting seedlings, you need to prepare beds, which must be well filled with organic, using for this purpose humus.

Seedlings are planted on the prepared bed in the holes, each plant separately, and after landing the peppers should be covered with a special covering material, making a tunnel shelter - a set consisting of arches, fasteners and non-woven covering material is sold in stores. In the long run, the film should only reach the outermost arcs, slightly dangling. This will allow it to be fixed and, at the same time, leave an opportunity for airing the plants and, if necessary, open and close the ends of the tunnel.

If some rules are observed, which must be observed, when the pepper is planted on seedlings and which we talked about, you can get an excellent crop of peppers.
