You can see all the attractions of Dombai by visiting this wonderful resort located in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic in the valley of the Teberda Reserve. The total height is 1600 meters above sea level. Mass influx of tourists began in early 1925. From the airport of Mineral waters the village was removed for 230 km. You can get to the airport by bus or taxi. You can also get there by train, for example, to Pyatigorsk or Nalchik. There is also a shuttle bus from the railway station to Dombai. Every tourist can come here by private car. The resort has developed infrastructure: hotels, cafes, camping sites, parking lots, prepared ski slopes and ski lifts.

Sights of Dombai in summer

During this time there is no exhausting heat and there is fine weather, which makes possible long walking tours. The age-old fir forests, crystal-clear lakes, snow-capped mountains - all this can be seen visiting the resort in summer or autumn.

The most popular are equestrian, cycling. And also trekking and climbing along various mountain trails. Sunny weather combined with a mild climate and beautiful scenery makes this mountain resort very popular.

Teberda Nature Reserve

This reserve is part of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, namely Karachaevsky district. It is located on the territory of the Teberda River basin, which is a tributary of the Kuban. The area of the reserve is 69 535 hectares. The sights of Teberda and Dombai are the most popular and visited by tourists. This is where a huge number of monuments of nature. Each of them impresses with its pristine beauty. The purest Teberda and Gonachkhir rivers, transparent lakes impress even experienced travelers. Here you can see glaciers, amazing with their power and volumes: Ptishsky, Amanauz, Alibek.

At the top of the Moussa-Achitara mountain there is an observation deck, from which an amazing view of the surrounding landscape opens. In clear weather, the top of the majestic Elbrus can be seen from this place. A special object of Dombai is a hotel, made in the form of an alien ship ("plates").

Mussa-Achitara Range

Considering the various attractions of Dombai, you can not say about this place. In translation, the name of the ridge means "weeping Moussa". This is due to an interesting legend. Somehow a thief with the name of Mousse hijacked a herd of sheep and led them up the hill along a gentle slope. Climbing up, he sat down to rest and began counting the livestock, calculating the amount of his income in his mind. But then he found that on the other side the mountain was steep and rocky. Then he realized that he had no way forward or back. And he wept bitterly.

Today, from the observation deck of the ridge, you can see the glaciers and peaks of Elbrus, the Teberda Valley and Gonachkhira.

Turje Lake

The pond stretches between two glaciers: the Alibek and the Bilingual. Its height is 3 thousand meters. The lake is surrounded on all sides by greenery and flowers. Until the middle of summer, the lake's water is icebound, and in summer they have an unusual color. To the very surface of the water a snowball descends, above which there is a glacier. All this forms snow caves, at the foot of which streams flow.

Amanauz Gorge

There are a lot of places worth visiting Dombai for. Attractions located in the immediate vicinity of the village are striking with their natural beauty. The gorge is known for its steep walls, canyons and waterfalls. The Amanauz River is the source of Teberda, the name in translation means "evil mouth". This gorge is considered the narrowest on Dombai. From it, there are picturesque views of the surrounding peaks. Here is located and another attraction, known as the "Devil's Mill".

Muruginsky Lakes

The reservoirs are located 1.5 kilometers from the Ullu-Murauju River. The largest and most famous lakes here are two: the Black and the Blue.

The largest of the lakes is the Blue. Its area is about 12 hectares, the depth is more than 50 meters, and the distance between the shores is more than 500 meters. From the lake flows the river Muruju. The waters of this lake contain silver and are the purest. Black Lake justifies its name. The bridge between the rocks closes it from the sunlight, making the water in it seem black.

Shumka Waterfall

If you do not want to ski in winter, it's worth visiting Dombai in the summer. Recreation, attractions Natural reserves in the warm season can be an excellent alternative to winter skiing. Interesting to visit is the waterfall formed by the waters of the river of the same name. The height of the waterfall is 12 meters. It is located at an altitude of 1523 meters. Baduk lakes

Lift system

The new system of lifts includes a six- and four-seat chairlift. It delivers tourists to a height of 3200 meters.
