Pavlovsk is a city in the Voronezh region, an administrative center. It is located on the left bank of the Don and attracts travelers from all over Russia with its beautiful landscapes and legendary history. From the history of the city

The city of Pavlovsk was founded in the early 18th century. The great emperor Peter I. By his order, merchants from Azov and Taganrog were moved here, thanks to which this place became an important trading center. Initially, Pavlovsk played the role of a strategically important military shipyard and fortress. It is important to note that during the first period of the settlement's existence, prisoners of war captured by the Petrine army in the Battle of Poltava were engaged in its arrangement . In 1711 Pavlovsk received the status of a city. This place became the birthplace of the great Russian fleet. It was here, at the Pavlovsk shipyard, ships were built, which became the support of the imperial army. In addition, foundry and cannon factories were founded in the city. Guns, cores and bells were cast in their walls. That is why in the 18th century. The city was called "small St. Petersburg". Over time, there was also a garment factory.

Shipova Dubrava

Pavlovsk (Voronezh region) has long been famous for its incredibly beautiful nature. The business card of this region is Shipova Dubrava. This local people call the ship's forest the pearl of Pridonia. And this is really a unique place! Among the steppes is a whole green island with an amazingly rich flora. Here you can see the mighty oaks, which are more than 150 years old! In addition, in Shipovaya Dubrava there are maples, lindens, and hazel. The animal world of this forest will also surprise travelers with its diversity. In the groves there are martens, deer, foxes, wild boars, roe deer.

The most famous sight of the forest are Chernavskiye springs, which locals call the "Seven Wells". Their waters contain a small amount of silver and are considered medicinal.

Pavlovsk: sights that surprise with their beauty

Near the Shipovaya Dubrava (near the village of Vorontsovka) is an ancient natural park. Here, every traveler will have a unique opportunity to touch the ancient oaks, which are more than 300 years old!

This picturesque town is also famous for its unique pine and broad-leaved forests, vast meadows on the banks of the quiet river Osered.

Odintsovo Mansion

Pavlovsk, whose sights contain the secrets of history, it is worth to visit people who are interested in the past of their Motherland. This city is rich in unique examples of architecture, and its monuments will impress everyone with its beauty and grandeur.

A real business card of Pavlovsk was the house of the merchant Odintsov. This is the most beautiful ancient building of the city. On the ground floor there is the Historical Museum, whose employees will tell every visitor the most interesting information about the past of this region.

The building itself, once belonged to the merchant Odintsov, fits perfectly into the architectural ensemble of the city. In addition, there is preserved a unique front porch, made of cast iron.

Spiritual district school

The spiritual uyezd school in the city was founded in the first half of the 19th century. The children of local priests were trained here. The building of the school was erected according to the project of the famous architect A. F. Shchedrin. It is an excellent example of the era of classicism.

Today the complex of the Spiritual School includes 4 buildings and the Church of the Three Saints.

Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God

This temple is located near the city's Historical Museum. It is an excellent example of architecture of the late 18th century. The church was erected at the expense of Kazan merchants, transferred to the city on the orders of Peter I after the battle of Poltava.

Today in its building there are beautiful icons of the 18th century: Varsonofia, Herman and Guria.

Transfiguration Cathedral

In 1712, on the site of the modern Transfiguration Cathedral, a church was built, named after Peter and Paul. She received her current name 12 years later. In 1773, the temple burned to the ground as a result of a fire. A few years later a new church was erected in its place, which still impresses tourists with its grandeur and beauty.
