OJSC "Ural Instrument Making Plant": history, production, products

OJSC "Ural Instrument Making Plant" is a leading Russian manufacturer of aviation and medical equipment. Technological capacities are located in Yekaterinburg. The company specializes in the manufacture of high-tech navigation instruments and aircraft stability. An important area is the development of complex medical devices.

Historical reference

The Ural Instrument-Making Plant (UPZ) stands at the origins of such a scientific and technical direction as precise mechanics. Initially, the company was founded in Moscow (1785) by a self-taught mechanic SS. Tryndinym. It was the first Russian specialized optical workshop, where they manufactured astrophysical, geodetic, medical devices.

After the revolution, the plant was nationalized and received the name "Metron". In 1936, for the first time in the USSR, the production of mechanical air horizons for aviation was mastered within its walls. In 1941, production was evacuated to Sverdlovsk. Thus was born the Ural instrument-making plant. During the war, UPZ was the main supplier of gyroscopic equipment and airborne instruments.

After the Second World War the enterprise continued to produce sophisticated aircraft devices. Almost all domestic aerobatic complexes include gyrovertical air horizons and other instruments of the Ural plant. Over time, mechanical equipment was supplemented by electronic components. At the same time the medical direction was developing.

Description

Today the strategic enterprise Ural Instrument-Making Plant offers military consumers a wide range of devices for combat aircraft. There are products for the new-generation training aircraft and light Yak-130 attack aircraft, but the deserved Su-25 attack aircraft is not forgotten. For the program of its modernization, a color multifunction indicator of the instrument panel is produced, which, among other improvements, has given the deserved machine a new level of combat capabilities.

For civil medicine, the Ural Instrument-Making Plant produces the first reanimation complex of the Russian high-class Aventa. Recently, medical institutions received its latest version of Aventa-M with improved autonomy.

Production

Ural Instrument Making Plant (Yekaterinburg) carries out the following activities:

  • Development and manufacture of products for scientific and industrial use (including for machine building), medical and other equipment, aircraft instruments and products.
  • Manufacture of consumer goods: household machines and devices, electrical goods, household items, radio electronic equipment.
  • Scientific research and design work.
  • Repair, domestic and service maintenance, including restoration by laser welding of products containing precious metals.
  • Manufacture of medical devices.

At present, the production capacities of the plant are loaded by 85-90%. The Administration plans to increase the utilization of design capacity by launching new types of medical products in demand on the market and developing new products for aviation in serial production.

Products for the aircraft industry

The Ural instrument-making plant is primarily known as a manufacturer of unique instruments for piloting aircraft. It:

  • Gyroscope free GS-6-1.
  • Small-sized gyroverticals MGV-1SU and MGV-1SU8.
  • Aviogorizon AG-83-15.
  • Signaling device ELRP-27-1270.
  • Ukr-2 roll indicator.
  • The gyro sensor is a 458M-2.
  • Air horizons of the models AGB-3K, AGR-74-15, AGR-74V-10.
  • Bellows MN-420-60.
  • Aneroid AN-5T.
  • Elements of aneroid sensitive APEC-10, AShES-12.
  • The gyroscopic commander of commands ГРК-1.
  • Sensors of roll.

The enterprise controls up to 75% of the Russian market of gyroscopic devices.

Products for Medicine

The Ural Instrument-Making Plant is also known as a manufacturer of complex medical equipment. It:

  • Diagnostic equipment: ultrasound sensors, ultrasound scanner Unison-1, ultrasound multifunction apparatuses of the Unison-2 series.
  • Anesthesia-respiratory equipment: AIVL with a prefix for anesthesia of the "Phase" series, anesthesia complex.
  • AIVL series "Aventa", "Vela", "Potok", "RVCH-01".

The share of APZ products on the market of medical equipment of a similar class is 3-5%.

Modernization

The enterprise is the executor of works on the state defense order, the share of which in the volume of production exceeds 20%. The plant is involved in the production of aircraft units for the first Russian "digital" Yak-130 aircraft. It also has unique technologies for manufacturing bellows from beryllium bronzes and products based on them for aviation and rocket and space technology.

As part of the conversion, the production of medical equipment has been mastered. OJSC "UPZ" in recent years has become one of the largest manufacturers of ventilators and ultrasound devices in Russia.

All these tasks require regular updating of technologies and equipment. In recent years, a number of important measures for the technological re-equipment have been carried out. For example:

  • A galvanic coating shop is being built.
  • A complex of local treatment facilities is being built.
  • The development and improvement of the AIVL of the new generation of the Aventa series is in progress.
  • Development of gyro-instrument K-130.01.

By 2012, most of the production, a number of departments of technical services and production warehouses moved to another site. To reduce costs, technological processes, programs and machining of parts on high-performance equipment have been developed. Designed, made rigging and introduced the manufacture of parts from plastics, aluminum alloys. UPZ plans to continue to implement its activities horizontally, expanding the range of products, taking into account the market demand, as well as the latest innovations in this industry.
