Flower Holidays

The highlight of the park are regularly held flower holidays. Each of them has its own name, for example, "Carnival of irises", "Ball of chrysanthemums", "Parade of tulips". The endless plantations, represented by the full spectrum of the colors of the rainbow, are truly a fascinating sight! During each holiday a huge number of flowers are exhibited - the heroes of the event. Then, by voting of all comers, the queen or king of the ball is chosen - a certain sort of flowers. At the end of the holiday you can buy the plants you like.

Structure of the Botanical Garden

The park in Nikita is divided into several zones: Upper and Lower parks, Primorsky and the park of Montedor. The upper park is located in the center of the garden. It was conceived as a place for walking. The lower park is the oldest part of the garden, and the "youngest" one is located on the cape of the same name - Montedor.

For the convenience of visitors there is a café, shops with seedlings and seeds. At the entrance to the park there are souvenir shops, book trays with special literature about the park. The botanical garden has special lighting, as well as musical accompaniment.

Upper park

In this part of the park there are administrative buildings - scientific departments and laboratories. Bamboo grove, evergreen stone oak - such plants are greeted by visitors Nikitsky Botanical Garden in the central part. Here, as well as in other areas of the park, stands from all over the world are represented. Bamboo, for example, comes from China, and a stone oak grows on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. It is very well adapted in this area, so the whole alleys of these trees adorn the Crimea. Nikitsky botanical garden is represented by other magnificent wood giants. These are plane trees, fir trees, giant sequoiaendrons. The latter are also called mammoth trees. They came here from America.

Since the park is planted in place of the old garden, there are representatives of the local vegetation - fluffy oak, pistachio dumb-shaped, strawberry small-fruited. These trees are much older than their exotic "brethren". For example, yew berry is 500 years from the beginning of planting. This beautiful coniferous tree is very typical for a city like Yalta. Nikitsky Botanical Garden is the owner of the most wonderful rosary, in which such varieties of flowers as Red Poppy, Star Nest, Clementine, Bakhchsarai Fountain and others grow.

Not only rare plant varieties make an impression on tourists. Walking in the garden, one can not help noticing how the spectacular Yalta views open here and there.

Lower park

Long-living in the lower part of the garden is an olive grove. It is thermophilic, drought-resistant and interesting in a practical sense. It is an evergreen Mediterranean culture. Oak, plane tree, pine, cypress - such powerful trees can be found walking along the Lower Park. Along the skilfully designed avenues shrubs grow: Crimean ivy, Pontic needles, Crimean cedarwood. Thanks to them, the park takes on an elegant and finished look. Beautifully blossom such bushes as bougainvillea, oleander, purple.

The exotic flora of the Lower Park is represented by the cork oak, which is home to Portugal, Chinese bicarbonate ginkgo, banana brought from Japan, Mediterranean laurel, large-flowered magnolia. The garden is inhabited by representatives of the Red Book. Among them is the strawberry tree. The age of this tree can reach up to 1000 years. Strawberry trees are often decorated with parks and gardens, it is interesting for the purple color of the bark.

There are such heat-loving plants as persimmon, fig, medlar. Interesting giant pine with the name of the leader of the Aztecs - Montezuma.

Seaside Park

A little more than a hundred years ago, a truly paradisiacal paradise was opened in the garden - the Seaside Park occupying an area of 20 hectares. The warmest part of the garden is reserved mainly for the eastern heat-loving vegetation. Palms, citruses, agaves, dracenes, acacias, araucaria and many others have found their place here. The seaside park is decorated in Japanese-Chinese style.

After some interruption in the work, the renewed site of the botanical garden earned again. Landscape designers, who worked hard to create an updated project, made changes in the style of the park, adding a bit of modernity.

"Fishka" of the Primorsky Park is the eastern gods of happiness. In fact, these are plants, tonsured in such a way that they take the form of a person, beast or some mythical creature. Sitting in the gazebo, you can talk to one of the gods or turn to several people at once. Each of them "is responsible" for a certain sphere of human life. These are Daikoku, Fukurokuju, Hotei-Osoy, Ebisu, Benzai, Bisyamon and Dzyurodzin.

According to the ancient Japanese tradition, every god promises a person happiness, but not money. So, Daikoku protects the peasants, gives food and protects the kitchen. Fukurokuju is asked for a long life and well-being. Hotei-osse is portrayed with a sack, from which he distributes the necessities most needy. Ebisu patronizes employees of different professions. Bendzai is a goddess who helps to master art - singing, drawing, literature, and also wisdom. Bisyamon pray for the protection of the warriors. Dzyurodzin is depicted with a scroll in which the secret of a happy life is written.

Montedor

The youngest park is located on Cape Montedor and has a little more than fifty years from the beginning of its existence, maybe, therefore, it is visited a bit less often than others. Pitsunda pine grows here , which now remains only on the southern coast of the Crimea. Fluffy oak, juniper - one of the few coniferous "inhabitants" of Montedor. The relict plant of the park is metasequoia. For a long time it was considered a vanished species, it was discovered in China in the twentieth century by scientists. Metasequoia has soft needles that fall for the winter.

Amazing in beauty is the grove of old mammoth trees, plantations of Mexican cypress and gutta percha tree.
