In memory of PP Bazhov

The protected lands of the natural park are the best natural monument to the world-famous Ural writer Pavel Petrovich Bazhov, who glorified his native land and talented people who once lived here. The most fascinating tales of the writer were born in these places - the Sysert mountainous district. Probably, the very Ural nature, majestic and calm, acted as a co-author of Bazhov.

Geographical location

The park "Bazhovskie Places" (Sverdlovsk Region) is located in the picturesque valley of the Sysert River, which has laid its course among the hills interspersed by low mountains, since the vast part of all the lands of the natural complex lies within the boundaries of the middle mass composed of the oldest rocks. These places are generous for deposits of minerals and semiprecious stones, therefore in the territory there are objects of geological prospecting works.

The forest reserves of the FSI "Sysertsky Leskhoz", which are part of the park, are united by several forestries (Sysertskoe, Schelkunskoye, Verkhnesyserskoye) on an area of almost forty thousand hectares. Urban and rural settlements within the protected zone of the park are not located, except for the village of Verkhnyaya Sysert, located in the territory of the security zone.

Flora

The vegetation of the park, formed under the influence of climatic features, geographical location, terrain and composition of rocks, is very diverse.

Although pine and birch are the main species forming the forest areas of the region, other trees are found in the park territory: larch, small-leaved linden, alder, spruce and fir, common for the Ural forests. Pine forests with a grassy cover occupy the central areas of the park "Bazhovskie Places", as well as the western and northeastern sectors. Along the eastern border of the park zone stretches a wide strip of deciduous forests with a predominance of birch and aspen. For the western border of the park are characterized by mixed coniferous-deciduous forests, passing into birch groves, and in the south the forest passes into the forest-steppe.
