Natural issues: what is a phenomenon that does not depend on the will of man, and the events that have occurred through the fault of people

Surely, many of us at least once heard this phrase: "What to do, it was a phenomenon that does not depend on the will of man." The expression is really on the ear. But about what exactly it means, it is necessary to tell more in detail.

About the concept

So, a phenomenon that does not depend on the will of man is called an event. This is what happens in reality, regardless of the person's desire.

In jurisprudence, there is a typical example. Suppose a certain person has died. Her death entails legal consequences. These include: the partition of the inheritance, the promulgation of the will, the search for debts, if those of the deceased were. These are relative events. They arise by the will of the subjects, but they develop and continue to flow regardless of their desires.

But there are still absolute events. They should be discussed separately.

On absolute events

These are phenomena that do not depend on people's will. They are called that way. And these are natural disasters. That is, destructive natural phenomena that pose a threat to life and health of people, and are fraught with the destruction or even the complete destruction of property (houses, buildings, entire cities and settlements).

They can arise for various reasons. Sometimes - independently of each other. In other cases, one event entails a second event. Then the third, the fourth, the fifth, and so on.

Regardless of the source of their occurrence, these events are large-scale. But the duration can be different. So, for example, a powerful snow avalanche (like an earthquake with limnological catastrophe) is capable of destroying everything in the district in minutes or even seconds. Selenium (streams with fragments of rocks) demolish everything on their way for several hours. Landslides destroy the terrain in a couple of days. And floods can last for months. All these are phenomena that do not depend on the will of people. They are called differently, but the destructive power of all differs considerable power.

Attempts to shift the blame on nature

Certainly, spontaneous events are phenomena that do not depend on the will of man. But is it all? By no means. Of course, in the origin of a natural catastrophe, you can blame any factor, which your heart desires, but only in many cases the person was not in the business.

In 2006, for example, employees of PT Lapindo Brantas tried to find natural gas by drilling the area of the Indonesian island of Java. Their actions led to terrible consequences - two months later, 11 villages on the island and rice fields with a total area of 2.5 kilometers were buried under a thick layer of mud due to a mud volcano explosion. And 7 people still died, because under its pressure the gas pipeline exploded. The company persistently insisted that everything happened because of the earthquake. But studies of experts have proved otherwise.

Emissions of dirt continue to this day. 1 500 000 people moved to other places, and on the site of the exploded volcano formed a funnel, whose diameter is 146 meters. By the way, the company paid a fine of 278 million dollars.

Provoked flooding

What is a phenomenon that does not depend on the will of man is clear. Earthquakes, snow avalanches, floods ... That's only with the latter you can argue.

In 1919, Boston literally flooded with black molasses - a by-product of sugar production. It was used to produce ethanol.

In January, an accident occurred at the plant. In simple terms, a giant vat with molasses just ... burst. And a thick liquid at a speed of 60 km / h just flooded the city. The maximum wave height was 4 meters! No casualties could not be avoided: 20 dead and 50 injured. The plant had to pay $ 600,000 compensation (at that time a lot of money). Naturally, this is not a phenomenon that does not depend on the will of man. This event happened due to the slowness and irresponsibility of people working in the company.

Explosion of a coal mountain

At the very beginning, factors that did not depend on the will and desire of people were listed. Perhaps, one of the most eerie is the explosion of the volcano. This was confirmed in 1966. True, then the volcano exploded, but a huge man-made mountain, formed over 50 years from coal slag. She was above the village of Aberfan, which is located in Wales. The mountain was so huge that it covered even the sun. Moreover, it has not been strengthened by anything. And the question concerning the analysis of the mountain was raised by not indifferent people more than a dozen times. However, all requests were ignored. However, in 1966, the resolution of the issue, for deplorable reasons, was not needed.

Then it rained in Aberfahn. Very long and hard. When they were over, the mountain collapsed. A huge coal mass weighing 100 tons at an incredible speed swept down and buried under a part of the territory and a local school, which was about 100 students. But the number of victims, of course, was greater. The management of the mine paid only a fine and compensation to the family in the form of 500 pounds for each dead person. This tragedy will remain forever in history as an indicator of striking human irresponsibility. Like many other cases.
