Most of the results of testing pharmaceuticals in China were fabricated

Pharmaceutical companies in China forge their clinical trials to get the approval of the society regarding the drugs they produce. Such a conclusion was made in the report of the State Administration of Food and Drug Administration of the country (SFDA). The government's investigation led to staggering results: about 80% of all data published by Chinese drug manufacturers may have been falsified.

What is the report about?

According to the Chinese newspaper Economic Information Daily, the results of 1,622 clinical trials of drugs awaiting approval were studied. It was found that most of these conclusions are either impossible to verify, or they are incomplete, or unable to fulfill the necessary standard for analysis. The SFDA said that strong economic competition and financial pressure are probably the main motivation for such fraudulent practices, as pharmaceutical companies are often desperate to get the green light to deliver their products to the market.

Nevertheless, this very immoral behavior can potentially have catastrophic consequences for those who decide to use these drugs. For example, the report showed that many companies deliberately underestimate the side effects that the participants encountered during the study, in the hope of obtaining the necessary approval for health and safety. The SFDA condemns this practice as a breach of duty by oversight departments and abuse of power by pharmaceutical companies, intermediary agents and medical personnel.

Opinion of medical workers of the country

Chinese medical practitioner Luo Liang told Radio Free Asia that the pharmaceutical industry in China lags behind the US and Europe, which means that companies often resort to unfair play to win the right to supply their second-class drugs to the market. In China, there is no development of new drugs in the same way as it can be seen abroad, he said, adding that Chinese pharmaceutical companies regularly produce products using formulas that once had a patent, but its validity has expired.
