Moscow's big ring - all about "betonke"

We will try to cover a wide range of information on IBC: the opinions of drivers about the road, the history of its construction and a detailed description, reconstruction plans and already done business on upgrading the route.

The Moscow Big Ring

This is an automobile road-ring of the Moscow region, a highway of federal significance A108, passing through the Vladimir and Kaluga regions. On the way of MBC come across the cities:

  • Balabanovo;
  • Voskresensk;
  • Dmitrov;
  • Wedge;
  • The Kurovskoye;
  • Likino-Dulyovo;
  • Mikheevo;
  • Orekhovo-Zuevo;
  • Ruza;
  • Sergiev Pasad.

This transit road with a length of more than 550 km has an important regional significance - it helps to avoid a busy Moscow junction. One of the names - "betonka" - the road got because of its asphalt-concrete coating, laid on concrete slabs. The width of the route varies from 7 to 15 m, and at the overpass in front of Likino-Dulyovo there are control arches, limiting the height of the passing transport to 3.8 m. However, there are also options for detour.

The most remarkable road structures of the ICD:

  • Bridge over the canal. Moscow;
  • A bridge over the Ozerninsky reservoir;
  • Denouement with the Yaroslavl highway;
  • Overpasses over the directions of "Transsib".

History of IBCs

The Moscow great ring was built in 1950-1960. On a larger account for military purposes - the missile defense of the capital. That's why the concrete slabs were put in order for the track to withstand rocket tractors with a minimum weight of 40 tons.

But soon ordinary Soviet citizens began to use a convenient road more and more often. Therefore, in the eighties, having covered the plates with asphalt, the Moscow large ring was made a general-purpose highway, and the movement of personal motor transport became quite legal for it. In 1991, the track was first noted on car maps.

Reconstruction of MBK

In recent years, many repair and restoration works have been carried out at the inter-bank credit facility:

  • 2014: construction of the route in the territory of the second round of the bypass of Dimitrov;
  • 2016: construction of overpasses on the sections Ryazanskoe-Kashirskoye highway, Minskoe-Volokamskoye highway; Overhaul of the A108 on the Dmitrov-Yaroslavsky direction.

In 2017, the Moscow large ring reconstruction overtook on the section from the village of Stenino to the intersection with the Volga route (M7). Also underway is construction of overpasses on the sections Yaroslavl-Gorkovskoe highway, Kashirskoye-Simferopol highway.

Opinions of drivers about the route

Moscow's big ring reviews from car enthusiasts and professional drivers have varied. Among the advantages of the road, they note the following:

  • Comfortable driving in summer;
  • Almost complete absence of traffic jams (if not lucky to meet the "pack" of trucks);
  • Wide shoulder;
  • The goodwill of drivers;
  • Relatively even coating.

But at the same time there are a lot of disadvantages, both local and general:

  • Hidden traffic police posts along the entire route;
  • In places the road is narrow, with holes;
  • "Eternal" solid;
  • In winter driving requires great care: the road is slippery, with ice;
  • The track has three steep descents, a dangerous climb in the weather near Semenovskiy;
  • A large number of signs prohibiting overtaking;
  • An unsuccessful crossing with the Leningrad Highway to Klin - a difficult intersection, a high probability of traffic jams;
  • Railway crossings, markedly increasing the time spent on the road;
  • Because of the movement in a circle, the distance seems psychologically greater.

In general, the Moscow Central Ring and to this day remains a popular and lively federal road both for ordinary motorists and for professionals. In addition, after the reconstruction and modernization of the three sections of the route, it is expected to increase its comfort. However, drivers want the reconstruction of a qualitatively different plan - the expansion of "betonki."
