Modern Russian submachine gun

The considered type of firearm is an automatic system for conducting combat operations in conditions of direct contact with the enemy at distances not exceeding one hundred meters. The submachine gun, as a rule, is capable of firing bursts and single shots, and pistol cartridges are used as ammunition. Modern samples are compact in size and light in weight, which allows shooting both from the shoulder and from the hip.

The "Bison" submachine gun created at the end of the last century possesses pronounced features of the character of the weapon developed under the Kalashnikov brand. The head of the project is Victor Kalashnikov, whose father invented the weapon known to the world. Therefore, this submachine gun according to the principle of operation used is similar, and the main nodes have a sufficiently large unification with them.

The principle of operation of this weapon is based on the use of the energy return of a freely located shutter. Folding butt, trigger, trunk and shop latch are unified with 5.45 mm AK-74. The barrel itself extends beyond the trunk box a sufficient distance and is completely inside the forearm, which for greater efficiency of its cooling has horizontal holes.
A completely new design solution was the use of a store of cylindrical shape, which has a screw system for filling ammunition. Thanks to this, this submachine gun, along with its decent ballistic and operational characteristics, has acquired new properties, because the capacity of the magazine is now 67 cartridges, which sharply increases its rate of fire. At the same time, it was originally intended for the use of widespread ammunition 9x18 PM, and today it is possible to upgrade it to 9x19 mm PARA pistol cartridges adopted as the main standard of NATO.

The "Kedr" submachine gun (PP-92) is intended for equipping law enforcement officers. At present, they are provided with special units of many ministries and departments of the Russian Federation, as well as employees of extra-departmental security and collectors.

Constructively, the submachine gun is a further elaboration of the PP-71 product created by E.F. Dragunov. (The developer of the famous sniper rifle SVD) on instructions from the USSR Ministry of Defense to equip the crews of combat vehicles in place of 9 mm automatic pistol APS. Initially, the work was carried out to improve accuracy when shooting single shots, for which the trigger mechanism was used with a classic layout for the location of the magazine neck directly in front of the trigger guard.

The submachine gun technically allows the connection of a noiseless and flameless shooting device (PBS), effectively extinguishing the sound and flash of a shot due to the use of the used layout of the separating plates at mathematically calculated angles.

Thus, the samples of individual small arms examined in this article testify to the samples available in modern Russia that are not inferior to Western analogues. At the same time, the submachine gun still continues to occupy one of the main niches of armament intended for conducting short-term fires in conditions of limited space conditioned by urban conditions, when the use of more powerful systems is unacceptable.
