The day of militia in Russia is a professional holiday, which is devoted solely to the defenders of law and order in the Russian Federation. However, this version of the name has sunk into oblivion: now it sounds like "Day of the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees". This is due to a number of reforms that the government took in 2011 to improve the effectiveness of the police, including renaming from "police" to "police".

Among other things, the militiamen were replaced by a form that, according to media reports, was liked by law enforcement officers.

On the first day of spring of 2011, the law "On Police" began to operate in the Russian Federation, which meant the creation of a new police structure, which was enriched by law enforcement officers who successfully passed the re-certification. Along with this, a number of traditions remained untouched: for example, the Russian president signed a decree on celebrating a professional day for police officers on the same day as before.

When is the day of the militia celebrated in Russia?

This day in the country is celebrated on the tenth of November. Until the ninety-first year, this holiday in Russia was called the Day of the Soviet Militia, and after the collapse of the USSR, until 2011 - the Day of the Russian Militia.

It is on November 10 that the Russian police carry out their service in a dress uniform, which indicates the high importance for them of the respectful attitude of the public towards their specific activities.

The day of militia in Russia has a rich history. It all began in late September 1962, together with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR: it was then that the first professional militia celebration began.

In 1980, this day became an official holiday, which favorably affected the spirit of the defenders, because now the public's attention to the patriotic activities of the police has greatly increased. A respectful attitude of society towards such structures in the state is one of the most important components of a healthy and patriotic society.

When is the Day of Transport Militia celebrated in Russia?

The transport militia is the most important structural subdivision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, since it ensures observance of law and order on air, land and water transport lines. First, the transport police exercises control in these areas, secondly, it is combating crime, and, thirdly, it organizes the protection of public order.

So, the Police Day, which is dedicated to the "transport" unit, is held on February 18. This is not an accidental date, chosen "at random", but timed to the event of 1919, when the All-Russian Central Executive Committee approved an interdepartmental commission for the protection of the railway. This event became predetermining, and is understood by historians as the first step to the creation of a transport police.

At first it was created to protect the railways. Law enforcement officials prevented smuggling and other illegal actions that were carried out on the railway lines.

Then adjustments in the appointment of the transport police were made by life itself: for example, the order approving the transport police for air transport was approved only in 1971, when it became necessary. In the same year, the struggle of the transport police with terrorism in air transport was opened after N. Kurchenko (stewardess) with her heroic deed prevented the hijacking of the plane, paying for it with her own life.

"Water" police appeared for the first time in Moscow before the Olympics-80 and was appointed to monitor compliance with the law and order in the water area of the Moscow River.

Thus, the Militia Day is a very important component of honoring the specifics of the activities of law enforcement agencies, it allows the society to remind that in the present time there are brave people who are worried about protecting civilians.
