Military motto and the name of the team. Military slogans and mottos

The culture of any society is multifaceted and consists of many layers. One of the most unusual and controversial is the army tradition, which we encounter almost every day to one degree or another. Let's try to consider a small part of them through a story about such a manifestation of it as military names and mottos.

Military motto: why and for what?

The military motto is a short saying bearing a certain semantic load. They have mottoes as a kind of troops, as well as individual military units with a long military history. Examples include the famous "No one but us!" Near the Airborne Forces or "Where we are, there's a victory!" - Marine Corps of the Russian Federation.

For any soldier or officer, the motto of the part carries a certain sacred meaning. This is something more than just a beautiful saying. This is a battle cry, with which they engage in battle, perish, win. The military motto becomes a part of the heart of the fighter, not to shame which is a matter of honor.

History

The first of the military slogans in the modern sense can be considered the famous Ave, Caesar, morituri te salutant! ("They that go unto death greet thee, Caesar!"). By right of strength, the imperial legions took this saying from the gladiators who came out into the arena, greeting their commander before the battle.

German-speaking principalities, and then Hitler, for centuries carried out expansion into the lands of Russian states under the general slogan Drang nach Osten (The onslaught on the East), which can safely be considered the motto of the aggressive policy. The expression "The burden of the white man" has always been considered an unofficial justification for the colonial atrocities of the British Empire.

The whole subsequent history is full of similar examples. Here are a few related to Russia: "For Faith, Tsar and Fatherland" - the motto of the Russian Imperial Army, or "For our Soviet Motherland!" - the Red Army during the war with Nazi Germany.

Modernity

The military motto as one of the elements of the distinctive symbols of species and arms is widely used throughout the world. For example, Finnish pilots carry the inscription "Quality is our strength" on the wings; The arms of their colleagues from Australia adorn the proud "Through thorns to the stars"; The army of France depicts on chevrons - "Honor and Fatherland"; The Germans are laconic and strict - "We serve Germany."

With the greatest enthusiasm for this issue is the US Army. Here, not only the state structure itself has its own motto ("The Army of One", which replaced "Become All Than You Can" in 2001), but most of the pieces sport such "nominal" pearls. For example, the 101st Airborne Division acts under the slogan "Rendezvous with Destiny," and the 2nd Infantry says "We will not yield to anyone!" By the way, both units participated in campaigns where American weapons, to put it mildly, did not gain a fame - Korea, Vietnam, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan. However, the impudence and self-confidence of the Yankees from this did not diminish.

In the army of the USSR, and then Russia, this tradition was not too widespread. However, recently there has been a definite trend, and, according to the order of the Minister of Defense Sergei Kuzhugetovich Shoigu, the loggers officially received the military motto "No one is better than us!".

Funny

No wonder there is a separate section of humor, called "army". Shrugs in epaulets long ago and in large numbers "give birth" to a variety of unofficial military speeches and mottos, many of which are firmly "glued" to certain types and kinds of troops. Once you hear them, it immediately becomes clear who is talking about: "I do not fly and I will not give another one" - the Air Defense Forces (Air Defense), "For communication without marriage" - signalers, "We change landscapes" or "After We are only silent "- the guys of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN). The slogan "That you are not yet in prison, is not your merit, but our shortcoming" - does not require comments.

War Games

Boys can not play without games, and even when they grow up, they sometimes want to play "war." The way out was found! The grown-up boys invented a large number of different games and events on military topics - airsoft, laser tag, paintball and many others. As a rule, this is a team entertainment. Each of the collectives tries to stand out from the mass of others, and therefore the military names and mottoes of teams sometimes amaze with their originality. But there may be full copies of existing parts in the real world. For example, the name and motto of one of the special units of the Russian Federation (the slogan of the detachment "Vympel" is the phrase "Terrorism is a disease. Meet a doctor!") Often appears in various airsoft events.

Fans of historical reconstructions deserve special mention. Fans of this type of entertainment with special care restore the form, ammunition and weapons of various parts that participated in this or that battle. At the same time, everything, even the smallest, is copied. That is why on chevrons, emblems and standards you can see the military motto of the unit, which the participant represents. This is especially noticeable on the form of the Imperial Guard of Napoleon and the SS units.

Kids Games

Military mottoes and command names are used not only in "adult" entertainment. Many remember the old pioneer game Zarnitsa, which has now been transformed into a variety of team games as part of the military-patriotic upbringing program for the younger generation.

These camps are not simply called "paramilitary". Here everything is like in the army: from the daily routine and life in the field to the strict requirement of discipline. One of the first tasks for newcomers, as a rule, is to come up with the name of a team, a company, a platoon, etc., as well as a motto on a military topic. There is a serious educational effect hidden here: the motto will become for the detachment the guiding star, the light of which will illuminate the way of the division throughout its existence.

However, in the usual "civil" children's recreation camps, the wards are divided into separate detachments. And quite often the detachment can choose for itself the motto on the military theme. This does not mean aggression to vacationers. Rather - about the excess of energy and certain ambitions. And just as the military slogans and command names are applied and developed, it depends entirely on the surrounding adults.

Psychological aspects

If you look from the point of view of psychology, then the military slogans for the teams are in two main qualities.

  • First, it is a powerful way to suppress the "ego" of each of the fighters, and at the same time, the direction of their forces and capabilities to achieve a team result. Everyone should understand that victory can only be achieved by combining the efforts of all who are around. For example, the slogan of the Canadian military "We stand guard over yours": here a direct message to unity and community ("We"), and the main task of the army (the "guard" of the state) is indicated.

  • Secondly, if the motto of a part is perceived by the fighter as something inseparable from him, very personal and valuable, he serves as a trigger for action, a kind of trigger mechanism that mobilizes all the inner forces of man. Not a single paratrooper, knowing the great "Nobody but us!", Will even think of decaying, retreating, avoiding a fight in a critical situation. Here everything is simple: he understands that, except for him, no one will do it. A warrior is not only obliged, but he must, and can, and will do it.

Conclusion

The military motto is an inalienable attribute of any structure that somehow takes on paramilitary features. It is impossible to think of it "at once", to order, it is born from sweat, blood and flame. And only those who perceive it as a whole, who understand its essence, can proudly bear the banner of their ancestors. Relating to the motto, as to a beautiful set of words, can easily refuse at a difficult moment, since for such an individual these words are worthless and do not have any motive. With the slogan "For the Motherland! For Stalin! "Tens of thousands of our great-grandfathers went on the attack and went to the enemy machine guns, perishing and losing their comrades. But with this slogan they won, because they carried it in their heart.
