Mechanical movement - all about it

It would seem that the term "mechanical movement" speaks for itself. The subject was at one point, and after a while was in the other - that's what happened. However, not all so simple. The term above gives a deeper meaning.

Moving from point to point is not instantaneous, but for a certain time. And not just right from point A to point B, but on some line. The line of motion of a body is called a trajectory, and its length is traversed. To describe the behavior of a body and its trajectory is often a rather difficult task. But if we use the representation of the position of the body in space with the help of coordinates and time, this will be the law of motion.

Now the next question arises: how is mechanical movement carried out? In the case when all points of the object move in the same way, it will be translational. If, on moving, the body points are placed on a circle, the movement will be rotational. Here we already have a characteristic of mechanical motion, and not one.

The task of physics is not only the description of the process of motion itself, but also the prediction of where the body will be at a given moment in time. However, in order to take advantage of the law of motion and its characteristics for this, we need to find the starting point, with respect to which all calculations will be performed. After it has been determined, we will have a complete frame of reference in which any mechanical movement can be described.

Moving occurs relative to the initial point of the coordinate system or, in another way, the reference frame. You can select the origin point arbitrarily, and if you change the reference point, the motion description may turn out different. Thus, we determined that the mechanical motion is relative. This concept of relativity was formulated by Galileo.

In order to quantitatively describe the entire process of displacement, we still need to introduce a concept such as speed. Under it, in the progressive movement is understood the ratio of the perfect displacement and the time spent on this movement. In the case when the speed does not change in direction and its value, the motion will be uniform and rectilinear. If this requirement is not met, the traffic will be uneven.

The value of the speed of motion - the value is also relative, and depends on its direction, i.e. This is a vector quantity. If the train moves relative to the surface of the Earth at a speed of V1 and a passenger with a speed of V2 travels in the direction of the train, then the passenger will move with speed V1 + V2 relative to the Earth. But if he moves against the movement of the train, then in relation to the Earth he will move at a speed of V1 - V2.

To complete the description of the movement, you need to bring the units of measure used characteristics. The time is measured in seconds, the distance traveled is in meters, and the speed, respectively, in meters per second.

The concept of mechanical motion from the point of view of physics has been considered above. However, this concept is also found in other sciences. So, the concept of "mechanical movement of the population" is operated by socio-economic statistics. Another name for this term is migration. It implies the movement of people through separate territories (countries, republics, districts), and this movement is associated with a change in residence.
