Let's go on holiday: the national currency of Bulgaria

The abundance of resorts in Bulgaria is a big plus for this country for many travelers. Going to the road, tourists think about the financial side. So, vacationers before the trip are asked the following question: "What is the currency in Bulgaria?". The national monetary unit in this country is a lion, and the smaller one is called a "stink".

The rate of this currency is updated daily. In some large shops, hotels, airports, credit cards are accepted for payment. The currency of Bulgaria is not exchanged for Russian rubles. After accession to the European Union (this happened in 2007), it was expected that the Bulgarian currency would change to the euro, but to this day the levs continue to be in circulation. For the first time this national monetary unit was introduced in the country at the end of the 19th century. At that time, it was sufficiently backed by a certain amount of gold (roughly like a French franc). Since then, three denominations have been held in Bulgaria, the last of which occurred at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Currency exchange is offered at special points, banks, hotels. The first option is the most profitable. It is necessary to be attentive, as many organizations do not work on weekends. In some small exchange offices, Russian rubles can also be accepted, but the rate will not be very profitable. It is better if the Bulgarian currency is acquired in institutions operating on the principle of "no comission". In this case, before the operation, it is recommended to clarify whether this principle applies to purchase or only for sale.

Some exchange offices go for small tricks. For example, in large letters indicate a rather profitable course, and below (in small print) it is told that this applies only to large transactions. Therefore, if you need a Bulgarian currency, before you change the available funds for it, you need to clarify exactly what amount you will receive and understand if it meets your expectations.

It should be noted that in general, there are relatively few cases of fraud in this country, so you can safely go here on vacation, not being afraid that it will be spoiled by any troubles.

The currency of Bulgaria is quite firmly tied to the euro. It is important only not to be afraid to clarify once again the cashiers details of the operation. Some banks and exchange offices can take a certain commission for services, but it is likely to be minimal.
