One such actress was the inimitable Greta Garbo. Her family was in complete poverty after the death of the beloved father's future actress. Therefore, at the age of 15, Greta had to leave the school to get a job in a hat shop. The young girl was already inspired by the legends of world cinema, but because of poverty she could not go on to learn acting.

One day, fate smiled at Greta (her real name was Gustafson). The guest of her store was the famous operator of the studio, located in Stockholm. The young man invited the girl to take part in the shooting of the commercial. As soon as Greta was on stage, the studio employees understood: the girl looks in the frame just amazing. Beginning in 1922, the future actress began to perfect her professional skills in the Academy at the Stockholm drama theater. Fateful for her was a meeting with the director Moritz Stiller, who became the author of her pseudonym.

The director appreciated Greta's talent very much, but his passion was only for her acting skills. Stiller did everything that Greta could get into the big movie. Then, in Berlin, the actress met with another serious director - Louis Mayer. This time for the actress opened the way to Hollywood.

However, having achieved success after filming in many famous films, Greta Garbo dreamed of leaving the acting path forever. It stopped her from the embodiment of this intention only a financial condition that had been shaken after the Great Depression. But at the age of 36 she still took this step. The storm of criticism that struck the actress and everyone's attention has done their work, because even the legends of the world cinema inside themselves remain ordinary people. After arranging the monetary affairs, Greta Garbo began to live a normal life.

Great Catherine Hepburn

One of the greatest actresses in the history of cinema is also rightly called Katherine Hepburn. She was born in America, in Connecticut, in 1907. Since childhood, Catherine was engaged in sports, and in 1928 she received a degree in philosophy and history. Throughout her career, she received an Oscar four times and won the title of the legend of world cinema. For the first time the actress starred in the movie "The Bill of Divorce" in 1932. The next film called "Parenting Crumbs" did not bring her success, and the actress decided to make a two-year pause in her career.

Then followed the shooting in other successful films: "Philadelphia Story", "Woman of the Year." It was on the set of the last film that the actress met Spencer Tracy. The novel with the actor lasted for about thirty years, despite the fact that Tracy was an alcoholic and was married to Louise Treadwell. The actress embodied a real symbol of the American of that time and the legend of the world cinema. Catherine's culture of communication did not stop this: despite her imperious and intractable character, she almost always remained a favorite of the public. Together with Spencer, Tracy Hepburn starred in nine films. It must be said that Tracey, thanks to his talent, won the title of the legend of world cinema. The last film, in which the actress was shot, was released in 1994.

Richard Burton: A Short Biography

Another actor, rightfully bearing the title of the legend of world cinema, is Richard Burton. He was born in Wales and was the twelfth child in the family of a miner. Therefore, his childhood passed in poverty. Ability to actor's skill at Burton showed up quite at an early age - starting with the game in school productions and performances. On the stage of the theater, the actor was in 1943 for the first time. He had a huge success on Broadway, and later began acting in Hollywood films.

During the filming of the film "Cleopatra" Burton began a romance with actress Elizabeth Taylor, which in total lasted about thirteen years. At one time they were the most famous and discussed Hollywood couple. Also the actors starred together in the films "Very Important Person", "Kulik", "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf". Richard Burton continued to work until his death, which came in 1984.
