In the United States, there are two main political forces. They are Democrats and Republicans. In another way, the Republican Party (USA) is called the Great Old Party.
History of creation
The establishment of the Republican Party in the United States was held on February 28, 1854. In the city of Ripon (Wisconsin), two political organizations were merged. It was the party of the Free Earth and the faction "Conscience" from the Whigs.
Organizations united as opponents of slavery. Representatives of the new political force reflected the interests of industrialists in the Northern United States. They became a serious counterbalance to the Democratic Party, which relied on planters and slave-owners of the South.
Having come to power in the North, they advocated the abolition of slavery and began distributing "free" land to all comers. By "free" was meant the land on which the Indians lived, but no one took them into account.
During the Civil War, the reasons for which are largely related to the confrontation between the economically developed North and the undeveloped South, whose planters used slaves from Africa, the Republicans came to power.
They led the presidential and parliamentary elections almost 50 years until 1912. At this time, there is a split in the RP and the Progressive Party of Theodore Roosevelt emerges from it . Democratic forces will control the political life of the United States with short breaks until 1968.
The decline of the Republic of Poland is connected with the resignation of President Richard Nixon in the mid-1970s. After a few years, everything changed. Further development is related to the activities of President Ronald Reagan. In his time, the party was renewed.
Symbols

On political orientation, Republicans are moderately right. The main objectives of the Republican Party of the USA:
- Reduction of taxes, government spending on education and medicine, the country's budget deficit;
- Increased expenditures on national security and armament;
- Struggle in favor of morality, national and family values;
- The preservation of the possibility of applying the death penalty, owning and carrying firearms;
- Restriction of abortion;
- Counteraction in increasing the minimum wage, research in the field of cloning, the introduction of euthanasia, the creation of trade unions in non-state enterprises;
- A more aggressive foreign policy.
According to the Republicans, it is necessary to minimize government involvement in the economy. However, they act with limitations in the lives of many people. So they are in favor of restricting abortions, same-sex marriages, pornography, prostitution. Interesting is the belief of the RP in the fact that the fight against global warming is supported by the Democrats for the sake of propaganda of their own forces. Any measures to protect the environment, in their opinion, should be put off to the second plan, if this hinders the development of the business.

The first president from Republicans
Abraham Lincoln is considered the first president of the Republican Party. His name is forever associated with the destruction of slavery in the United States.
He grew up in an impoverished farming family, early started earning with manual labor. School he attended no more than a year, but it was enough to engage in further self-education.
After the meeting with the justice of the peace Lincoln was carried away by the law. I tried myself in different positions - from the captain in the militia against the Indians to the surveyor. Finally, at age 26 he was elected to the Legislative Assembly (Illinois). He joined the Whig supporters.
A year later Lincoln passed the exam and became a lawyer. He was a lawyer for 23 years.
In 1856, Abraham Lincoln joined the Republican Party, which opposed slavery. He believed that each state should solve this issue, but he was against the spread of slavery throughout the country. Due to his moderate views on slavery, he was nominated as a presidential candidate in the election of 1860. The Republican and Democratic parties of the US nominated their candidates.
The victory of Lincoln was associated, first of all, with the support of the North, as well as with the split in the Democratic Party.
His rule is connected with the ensuing Civil War between the North and the South, which culminated in the adoption of the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution on the abolition of slavery in the country.
Lincoln was shot in the head in 1865. His tragic death contributed to the creation of a halo around his name, the martyr who, at the cost of his own life, reunited the country and freed the slaves.
He is considered one of four presidents who determined the historical development of the United States. He is the first leader of the Republican Party of the United States.
Dwight D. Eisenhower
The 34th president was a statesman and a military man. After graduation, Dwight Eisenhower studied at the military academy. In political activities, he often quoted Abraham Lincoln. Once he even painted a portrait of his beloved president.
During the opening of the Second Front in 1944, Eisenhower was appointed Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the expeditionary forces. After the war, he continued friendly relations with Marshal Zhukov.
Dwight Eisenhower began running for president instead of Nixon, who was accused of corruption. This was a strong blow for the Republicans. By his activities he had to correct the situation.
Having come to power, he was able:
- End an unpopular war in Korea;
- To stop the practice of persecution for leftist beliefs;
- To organize the construction of a system of interstate highways.
Having finished the presidential term, he departed from politics.
Ronald Reagan
A famous actor, radio presenter and 40th US president was born in a family that constantly moved. After school, he entered college at the Faculty of Economics and Sociology. From study he was interested in social life and playing sports.
His career began in 1932, when he worked as a sports commentator on the radio. Five years later, he signed a contract with the Warner Brothers film studio as an actor. His film career consists of 54 feature films.
As an actor, he collaborated with the FBI. His task was to report on those workers who sympathize with the Communists.
In political life, Reagan was originally a democrat, he admired the activities of Franklin Roosevelt. However, over time, his views changed. In subsequent presidential companies, he supported Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon.
He described his views in speeches himself. Thanks to charisma in 1966, he was promoted to the post of governor of California. In 1970, he was re-elected for a second term. During this time, his views as a politician were finally formed, he became a supporter of non-interference of the state in the economy.
He attempted to become president in 1976. This was supported by the Republican Party of the United States. Becoming president, he lasted two terms. His policy was called "Reaganomics."
