A real monument of art and Russian life in the period of the Moscow kingdom is Alexei Mikhailovich, built in the vicinity of the former Kolomenskoye village. Having its own unique style, which successfully combines the traditions of the old pre-Petrine Russia with Western European art, this monument of architecture is distinguished by a high level of building skill. Combined in a whole, decorative, artistic polyphony and the use of various materials allowed to create a truly unique work that gives a sense of celebration, enthusiasm and optimism, which is so characteristic of Russian fairy tales.

The village of Kolomenskoye, the palace of Alexei Mikhailovich in the Middle Ages

This small village has a fairly rich history. It housed the residence of several Russian tsars. Even in the XVI century under Vasily III in Kolomenskoye the tent church of the Ascension was erected. Then came the royal mansions. Then Ivan the Terrible visited here, in which the church of the Beheading of the head of John the Forerunner was built in the nearby village of Djakovo. Here were the residences of the first Russian tsar from the Romanov dynasty , Mikhail Fedorovich. In Kolomenskoye there was a stake of the leader of the uprising of Ivan Bolotnikov and the impostor False Dmitry II. Here, afterwards, the palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich was built . Kolomenskoye, in which he regularly visited, was his any residence. It was on the reign of Alexei Mikhailovich that Kolomensky flourished. The residence was built from 1667 to 1673 and had 270 rooms. A single palace ensemble included wooden mansions, which housed the Kazan Church, Fodder, Solid and Bready Yards, Colonel and Prikaznye Chambers, guard-rooms. The territory was surrounded by a high fence, which could be accessed through the front, rear or garden gate, and around the palace were broken gardens.

After the transfer of the capital of the Russian state to St. Petersburg, Alexei Mikhailovich, the palace located in the village of Kolomenskoye, gradually deteriorated and was subsequently dismantled by order of Catherine II. At the same time, detailed drawings of the palace complex were made prudently.

In the XVIII century, Prince PV. Makulov in place of the old one was built a new palace, the two lower floors of which were made of stone, and the two upper floors were made of wood. However, this was no longer the palace, because it was built according to the design of the prince himself.

New life of the old palace

The idea to recreate the palace as a museum-preserve, from which only fragments of the foundation remained, arose in the 90s of the last millennium. With the support of the Government of Moscow, a set of measures was undertaken to collect the remaining information and study the surviving remains of the basement. In view of the fact that for many years the whole natural complex was formed at the place where Kolomenskoye was located , Alexey Mikhailovich's manor-palace was rebuilt in full size on the site of the former village of Dyakovo in the period from summer 2007 to autumn 2008. Despite That the palace is not exactly on the place where the royal residence was once located, its orientation towards the sides of the world was violated, and modern materials were used during the construction, the exterior of the palace is in full conformity with the surviving drawings and writings. The grand opening of the palace, which is currently located in the city of Moscow at the intersection of 1st street Dyakovo Gorodische and Andropov Avenue, was held on September 4, 2010.

Works reconstructed in the village Kolomna Palace Alexei Mikhailovich every day from 10 to 18 hours. You can reach it by going to the metro station "Kashirskaya" by metro. The basis of the interior composition of the museum is its artistic decoration and interior decoration, which with a maximum accuracy give ideas about the life and way of life of the reign of Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov.
