And how to create combat knives, what are the requirements for them, what alloys and technologies they use to create them? I've always wondered if it's true that the fighting knives cut the wire and never get stupid. Knife "Antiterror" and "Punisher" are capable of this and even more.

What is a combat knife

A combat knife is a weapon that has been officially adopted by the army or special structure. Its main goal is to defeat the enemy's manpower. They come in different shapes, weights and grinds. If the knife is sharpened on one side, it means that it is designed mainly for stabbing blows.

The basic requirements for combat knives can be accommodated in several points. There is such a joke that a man feels when a real weapon gets into his hands, because immediately you want to kill!

A combat knife must have a limiter or guard, so that when you hit it, the hand does not slip onto the blade. The blade itself is sharpened from two sides so that the knife does not have to be deployed in combat, the blade is also made of sheet-shaped form and not 30 mm already - this increases the cutting properties. The cross-section of the handle is oval or ovoid in shape, so that the knife is better in the hand. The sheath is made without fasteners holding the knife so that it can be removed in one motion. The center of gravity is shifted to the handle to better feel and guide the blade.

There are average standards that all combat knives of the world adhere to. The total length varies from 220 to 300 mm, the hardness is not less than RC 50-55, and the mass is about 0.2-0.3 kg.

The History of the Russian Combat Knife

We all saw the combat knife and more than once. In museums, on television, and who served in the army, he held in his hands. After all, the most common modification of a combat knife is a bayonet knife. It is used in hand-to-hand and bayonet combat, can cut wire and perform some functions for the life of soldiers. This is a universal weapon, but inferior to its combat effectiveness to its specialized counterparts, such as the knife "Antiterror."

During World War I, the bayonets were very long, so that you could beat the enemy while in the trench. With such a convenient walk in a bayonet attack, but in combat one on one maneuverability is lame. Cossacks used daggers for close combat.

Since 1891, the Russian army began to use a tetrahedral bayonet, which, due to the nature of the sharpening, inflicted deep puncture wounds, damaged the organs, the skin on the wound site collapsed and, if the enemy did not die from the wound, he was awaited by the torture of blood poisoning. This bayonet was in service for half a century, participated in the revolution and civil war and even in World War II.

The four-edged bayonet was replaced by an army knife or scout knife, the NA-40, it was adopted in 1940. Scouts were fully armed with this. The NA-40 had a wooden handle and a thin flat blade, which in the melee penetrated without difficulty between the enemy's ribs. In fact, this is the first Soviet special forces combat knife.

The regular army still used a bayonet, albeit modified. No army of the world has abandoned the bayonet knife so far, but since bayonet attacks have become less, the bayonet's length is shorter and it looks more like an ordinary knife.

Knife "Antiterror"

When joining the Alfa Group, each new employee receives a special combat knife, called "Antiterror." It was developed specifically for special forces of the FSB of Russia. The knife has a petal shape, which increases the cutting ability, together with the high penetrating. Has a comfortable guard, the handle is made of thermoplastic elastomer and set leather.

Knife "Antiterror", a photo of which is presented below, was created by the type of "Punisher". Changed the geometry, to increase penetration and convenience in household tasks. Changed and the shape of the handle, it has a groove for the fingers.

Many combat knives of the world, like "Antiterror", have a thermoelastoplastic handle, it is good for its resistance to oil and gasoline, that is, it does not slip in the hand and has an excellent thermal insulation, which is convenient when working in extreme temperatures. Although some prefer handles made of leather or leather and brass.

The predecessor of the Punisher

The combat knife of the special forces "Punisher" was also created for the FSB siloviki. It has two modifications, different sharpening, type of handle and blade processing. This is a knife with a wide blade, which you can dig, it is convenient to use, as an additional support on loose ground, is designed to survive and destroy the enemy in close combat.

This is a real miracle knife. "Punisher" withstands the fall on concrete, can be used as a stapper cutter, withstands the stress on the fracture in the area of the guard up to 120 kg, keeps working at high temperature and humidity, at low temperatures up to -40С and after staying in fresh water.

The civil version. Differences

The combat knife "Antiterror" and "Punisher" are very good, and it is impossible to acquire such a knife, not being an employee of the FSB, but there are civil versions. They have the same geometry and are made of the same materials. Of the differences, we can note the absence of a guard and a chopping sharpening on the boot. Also there is no groove for breaking the wire. Otherwise, these are beautiful knives, some of the best ones that can be purchased in a civilian.
